I got one last year, It was a toss up between the 422 & the 522, The 522 is similar however as standard it has a polarising lens. If you notice there is a lot of reflections in your footage on the windscreen, I noticed this on mine. I ordered the separate polarising lens and fitted it. Fitting instructions & calibration using a paper sheet on the dash were excellent it was like looking at trick photography. The resulting footage was remarkably better looking, nearly professional in appearance, well worth the couple of quid.

We bought one based on your reveiw and yup, very impressed. But..... It's now only a 3 month trial for the SOS not 1 year.

No point trying to show 1440p quality, when your whole video is only available in 1080p - weird

So the rear camera is attached to the main camera and not mounted in rear window?

G sensor means a hardwired power not 12v output.

what about those petty thieves who might want to break in to your car knowing that next base dash cams are quality stuff? Honestly that's my main worry with conspicuous dash cams :(

Looking to purchase the Nextbase 422gw....and add the optional polarizing lens. Cannot find the specific specs on what type lens and Sony sensor are in this dash cam. Anybody to point me in the right direction? Nextbase website only mentions that they work closely with Sony and did not find any specific reference in the manual I looked at on- line.

it is good that it has a screen to view video footage. Cannot stand those bullshit viewing from smartphones. Too many dependencies.

Most dash cam are waste of money. You won't be able to record the license plate number until cars come to complete stop. If you live in the United States. The rear camera is useless. Because the license plate is always mounted on the back. Only dash cam that could record license plate are the ones that police use. Those cost over $1000.

Why are all dash cams so sht nowadays. How difficult it is to put decent sensor in it instead of all unnecessary features like gps etc. nice video though

Not a fan of the way you split the video that should have been just one video. Why did you do it that way? Do you know how hard it is when you’re watching on a KZfaq app (TV, Roku, etc. or phone) vs. computer to use thumbnails in videos, or even get into the details, nevermind the comments sections? And I have autoplay off whenever possible, but all the apps on all the devices generally have it defaulted to ON, so most people just leave it that way. Autoplay is never going to follow your part 1 video up with part 2 unless people just happen to be playing a playlist you created to make them play in order, back-to-back.

Would have been a good video if it was not for the bloody loud annoying music, why do people think music has to be playing all the time. even when they are talking, had enough after about a minute.

You can see I left a comment here 6 months ago. Do not buy this piece of crap dashcam. The SOS is kicking us out every month and this is having a weird effect on us. Before we had a dashcam we never thought about accidents or breakdowns. They are just the sort of thing you deal with should it happen. Now that we have this 422GW that won't work properly, we feel in more danger, we notice that the SOS support won't be there if we do have an accident. This camera will give you more insecurity than security. Don't do it.
