Mr Jackson deserves every compliment there is. Its not like you got lack of those here on your channel but one more wont hurt. One has to love the simplicity of your approach (DIYer or a PRO) and pretty much every day type of tools you use. Selflessness in reveling of all tips and tricks you earned through your work time is simply beyond priceless. One of many reasons I love your content is because you show how much time and sacrifice it takes to make something. It is quite magical when you sit down to watch one hour + video and next thing you know, you are bummed because video ends. I also thank you for all the time and effort you put into it and hope that big-wigs at #KZfaq will recognize that as well. You are definitely leaving a pixy-dust trail and a great legacy behind you. One to be admired and to learn from. Hope that my words do not sound like redundant and I wish you all the best. Adi ;o)

Thanks for your kind words spanzza... much appreciated! Anything you can do to share this video with friends is helpful because, sadly, KZfaq doesn't promote longer videos that much so overall view numbers are usually down even though " It is quite magical ... and next thing you know, you are bummed because video ends." All the best to you as well!

I've only watched the first 20 minutes, I will definitely watch the whole thing. I really enjoyed watching how you use your time in the glue-up. I've been working at my method and it's a little different and now I have some things to try. I've already seen way too many KZfaq videos that just gloss over small details so the build is done in 15 minutes of video. That's fine, but all those videos end up repeating the same skills. For example, you don't waste time smoothing the glue out, but you adjust the boards with your fingers rather than clamps, biscuits, or cauls. Thanks for doing this, I hope it becomes worth your while.

Very cool Greg thanks for letting me know. I'm guessing you'll have no trouble coming up with a Cove setting disk of your own and I wouldn't be surprised if you made one out of a flat plate of Steel which would be awesome because it would not Flex like the plexiglass can. Make sure to ping me if you have trouble with any part of the process but I hope that video is thorough enough let it go smoothly for you... Best, Matt

Thanks for watching and commenting on this one... again😎 I think a moulder like this would be perfect for your use and needs if you decide to get into the custom milling business instead of farming it out. Making mouldings is enjoyable work: it gives a grand feeling of accomplishment when a perfect piece slides out of the machine. If I were doing much moulding these days I'd upgrade to one with variable speed and 'multi-pass' capability so put those features on your checklist if you go a-shopping. Give me a call and I'll gladly explain their benefit and importance... Best, Matt

Matt this is one of the most outstanding videos you have produced! It was worth every second of the 1 hour and five minutes and 29 seconds. I have used the technique of creating a cove using a table saw introduced to me by Izzy Swan, your refinement of setting the exact angle to create the cove for the desired dimensions is phenomenal. As well in explaining the details of how to use the jointer for the rabbiting. And for making the custom sanding block? You have talent and think outside of the Box! You are a true Artist and craftsman. As well as a superlative instructor! 😁🛫

First rate! (2) I am with you on using the FTG rip blade for joinery. I use it (or an ATB-R blade) for all types of joinery on the table saw. (3) BONDO. It's not just for fenders anymore. @@NextLevelCarpentry I've thought about this, but I do like the feel of wood against wood. I do a lot of hand tooling, planing, sawing, etc. I'm not sure I want things sliding around so much not to mention I have numerous 3/4" holes bored through for holdfasts and such. Last time I used eastern white pine, too soft for my taste. I might use yellow pine next time unless the hardwood gods drop by for a visit..

As everybody say, always good basic instructions from you, whatever the finished job entails. May I just add a little extra to Jeff Roberts's comment re. the need to relocate the fences because of the swing action of raising the saw blade. Not wishing to 'nit pick' but the arc of the cove with this, and similar methods, is not that of a circle. It is the small end portion of an ellipse. Keep up the great work for all our benefits. I SO wish I could do stand-alone videos Corwin... I know they fit KZfaq algorithms better but my limited video production abilities make it unrealistic at this time. There's content for 3~5 videos every day I work in the shop or on a jobsite but it takes at least 10 times as long to produce a video about a job as the actual work takes. I could keep a full video production team busy constantly just trying to keep up but it's just not viable right now. Glad viewers like you realize how much is packed into a long video though and are able to glean useful stuff when those with short attention spans will never invest the time to do so. Thanks for watching and commenting here.... Best, Matt

Moulded sanding pad tip was good. Thanks for the video. If you watch Pocket83 he had an interesting video just last week on making a jig for cutting coves on the table saw. Cheers, David

I'm glad you did too Doug... applying the first coat of finish is always icing on the cake for a project IMHO!

just wondering if you are on a sugar rush there Matt. thanks for your time to upload and do these for us. Learn't a lot in this one, but wonder if I can retain it. Thanks from my bubble here in NZ.

Too bad we can't give two thumbs up because this episode deserves it. But I expected the Bondo joke after the credits instead of midstream. So, took a minute to get it before I laughed out loud..

I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned this but the setup errors and other head scratchers are from this. The table saw blade swings up in an arc and not straight up and down. Any blade height adjustment will require you shift the setup over some.

I like "Sawr Dust" much better than "guy glitter" - seems like it will be less likely to turn away women and girl viewers! Awesome end result, I can't believe the transition from the "cardboardeur" :D

Good day to you Matt and as usual thanks for producing such high quality and educational videos, however, I cannot seem to find episode 9 on how you created the infill on your superb pallet wood shop door.

Yeah sorry Rich... the numbering thing kind of got mixed up but episode 9 and 10 have not been uploaded yet. With any luck I will get video #9 showing how I made the slats to infill the panels this weekend but the video where I actually finish the door is probably a couple weeks out yet... Best, Matt

Each new episode I’m finding myself asking, ok... how’s Matt gonna solve THIS puzzle. The thing is... you solve it... Every. Single. Time. Great work on creating that cove profile. Also, the bondoo sanding block is a stroke of genius. Popcorn Rating: 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿

Thanks D. Bowman... so far I've been able to edit out all the un-solved puzzles that I encounter so that it seems all are solved 😁. The cove thing worked out well despite the uber-weird circumstances that meant I didn't show this profile being made with custom knives in the W&H moulder as I planned in the beginning. It would sure save a lot of sanding but, even at that, it wouldn't be worth dealing with that outfit! I'll share the story with you sometime if you're interested... maybe saga is more like it? BTW I was out riding a rather big hill on my mountain bike on Saturday which brought you to mind 😉😎. Take care!

I have seen an ad for a cove cutting blade that uses carbide tips ground with round tops. I is supposed to cut smooth coves. If one was going to do a lot of cove work it might be worth a try.

Hey Ed, thanks for watching the video... and asking about the aluminum. Providence has provided a solution better than I could ask for and I'm looking forward to putting the whole thing in play. If things go as I hope I will soon have in my possession a sheet of the real brushed stainless with a phenolic backer on it to use for the accent strips... You'll here more of the story in the video but I appreciate your willingness to help out in the meantime.... Best, Matt PS check into Nu metal laminates if you are interested to see the actual product I expect it to be using... it might already be familiar with their products.
