So heres a tutorial on how to start a fresh on your nexus device and install 4.3, it doesn't matter if your rooted , or coming from a custom rom, this will work. Of course you will lose everything , but seeing as its a nexus device, its really easy to get back .
requires an unlocked bootloader

Thank you so much for this! I attempted a basic factory reset on my Nexus 5, but was stuck on the erasing screen with little hope. Many tutorials online were partial, or had small mistakes in their descriptions which left me stuck. This tutorial saved my phone. Thank you.

If you open up flash-all.bat and erase "-w" command you will save all of your data. -w (wipe data) Cheers

dude thank you soo much. I have worked with tool kits so this was new to me. I followed your video step by step, pause and start, pause and start and was able to upgrade. I had roms, kernels and TWRP recovery so this fresh start was what I was looking for. Worked great the first time. Thank you SO much for your tutorial. Since the Cyanogenmod installer relies on a pre-installed 4.3 version, and i was dumb enough to try it with my Nexus 4 with 4.4 on it... well. Eventually i discovered the WiFi bug. Your tut helped me to get back to 4.3.

Superb video Chris. Thanks! I wasted three evenings trying to get this to work, only to find I had downloaded the wrong package from Google. Doh! so for others, select carefully. I haven't bothered with Android 5 on my Nexus 7 but 4.4.4 had made it a complete dog so, using your method, I've restored 4.4.2 and it's like a new tablet. Thanks again!

I've got the "red light of death" on my Nexus 4 after flashing the Bricked kernel, I think I've messed things up a bit. Charged it for 2 whole days and nothing's happening, only the red light. But I can still go to bootloader mode. I would like to try flashing stock Android 4.3 images, but will it help?

have you put your device in fastboot mode? if there is nothing listed.. the driver is not correctly installed.

Thank you! I installed a custom rom and it didn't want to detect my sim-card, imei,... I tried flashing a radio but that didn't work, this is the only thing that worked.. thank you so much :)

After you flash the factory images, what do you do with the files you copied into platform tools? Do you delete them if you want to flash a new image?

Initially couldn't install the device in fastboot mode so I manually downloaded and installed the drivers. I'm on windows 8.1. Great guide overall thank you now I'm back on stock

are you sure its stuck in a bootloop? it takes a while for the initial boot after using the factory image

That's it! Right after I OC it and ran AnTuTu benchmark, it shut itself down and charging wouldn't work. I've read about how to fix it by re-connecting the battery bridge, but I'd require Torque T5 screwdriver which is really rare in my area. I'm trying to flash the stock image right now, but stuck at the cmd saying the word "fastboot" isn't recognized. I'm still browsing Google for solutions, any advice?

Hi! I used to update my Nexus 4 to try another ROMs like CM13 today. After I tried it I wanted to get back my stock Android 5.1.1 and everything works fine. Some hours later I wanted to install Titanium Backup and it doesn't installed. After I tryed to flash the stock lm47v system.img and the commander give me a message: (remote: unknown chunk type). I hope it will fix if I download again the full factory image. Do you know something about this problem?

I download the factory images but I only get the one file whenever i extract the file. It doesn't contain the flash-all.bat file

The link above to the "Android SDK" is now pointing to "Install Android Studio" (which requires to install the JDK). I don't know what the original link implied as far as installation but I don't want to have to install a bunch of stuff just for a one time use. Any suggestion about how to get something going similar to what you show in the video without having to install the Studio?... or can you share the original "Android SDK" you are using in the video? TIA

can't thank you enough for this video. I've used this video way too many times lol. Damn Android and their ROMs 😊. I have a Nexus 7 (2013) that got OTA to 6.0.1 and it bricked my tablet. To anyone with a Nexus 7 (2013) DO NOT UPDATE YOUR TABLET TO 6.0.1 THE UPDATE WILL BRICK YOUR TABLET. That's why I'm here, couldn't even use WugFresh's NRT.

hey, i downloaded the 4.4.4 stock image from google, extracted it with winrar and what i got was a ".tar" file, file type is GooSAVe... haven't got those files shown in the vid.. what should i do? urrghh no matter which image i download i just get a ".tar" file type GooSAVe.. ehat should i do with it! help!

When i type "fastboot devices" my device is recognized. However, when i type "flash-all.bat" it says it is not recognized as an internal or external command. Thoughts?

When I download this file for the Nexus 5 and open it within WinRAR only one file is visible which is 'hammerhead-lrx21o-factory-01315e08' no other files appear to be present. If only I could get hold of the elusive 'flash-all' file my Nexus would probably be sorted.

tried this in n4..received msg like archive doesnt contain boot.sig and archive doesnt contain rrcovery.sig but the operation completed and i have a working 5.1.1 ... anything to worry??

***** mostly just small complaints. Didn't like all the whiteness in material design, few bugs, bit of lag after awhile (rebooting fixed it but was still annoying) and battery wasn't lasting as long.

Trickdone507 if you havent unlocked the bootloader.. its locked... to unlock you need to enter " fastboot oem unlock" in cmd from the platform-tools folder.

+Alberto Morreale Did you get the correct image for your device? sometimes it can get stuck in a bootloop, you may have to reboot into recovery and wipe the cache.

Thanks, i have a video on ADB sideloading .. Tutorial - How To Use ADB - Includes Sideloading - Nexus 4 if your on stock recovery , boot into it , then you can use " adb sideload *ota file name* "

Re download the files. Check sizes if you can't do a checksum. What I meant was to check the cmd line output to see if it runs into errors. Did you make sure the fdastboot found your Nexus 4?

***** just a quick and easy question, i have the flash-all, flash-all.sh and flash-base.sh scripts. I am guessing the i have to run the flash.all but there is no .bat ending but the file is a windows batch file. what do i type in the cmd window, just flash-all or flash-all.bat?

Yea its just because you don't have extensions showing on the computer, its no big deal :) I think you still have to type flash-all.bat though... might as well just to be safe.

Thanks for the video! Just upgraded my nexus 7 (2012 version of course) to 4.3, it feels like a totally new device. dont know if it is the new system or just because the wipe-all though. Now i'm enjoying the stock 4.3 on nexus 7 and waiting for the upcoming custom 4.3 ROM for nexus 4.

it stopped? do you mean it didnt show anything? if not you need the google usb driver ... search google for " google usb driver" and its the first link.

How long did you wait ? the initial boot can take 3-4 mins... if that doesn't work , you have two options. 1 ) flash the factory image again 2) boot into recovery and wipe caches.
