Told you I hung up, it kinda felt wrong Finally called him back, we didn't talk long He asked me how I'd been, I sent him this song Yeah, think he took offense, he kinda seemed off I texted him that night to ask what he thought It took a couple days to get a response But once I finally did, he said this song sucks If you want to know Nate in some interviews talked a little more about his OCD, he said that he has the usual rituals like always washing his hands, but one thing that happens to him is with clothes: if he changes clothes sometimes he gets very anxious about it, for example once he started going to therapy one thing he had to do was wear a shirt, but didn't feel comfortable on and became anxious and almost broke down crying.If he feels forced to do something he becomes extremely anxious and nervous. Another example he recounted is that at one point during the tour he was obsessed with making mistakes or messing up on stage if he wasn't wearing a certain pair of socks, so he had to change his socks, and in general he convinces himself of things in his head and can't stop thinking about it, or has to talk about it or do it. It can be anything, related to health, he can be convinced that he is sick all the time ... One time, for example he went to Whole food,with his friends I think, and he told his wife that he would not eat there but that they would leave, and then eventually they decided to eat there instead of going back, and his brain started freaking out and feeling guilty because he told his wife that they would go He said obviously there are more things But these are other things that happen to him besides those said in the song I think people in white are the ones who are ready to let go of their "balloons". When you see people in black (third verse) I think they are the ones who are left with their "balloons" and have never faced their burdens (what the balloons more or less represented) also because if you remember in Paid my dues you see a version of him dressed in white Location of video: Six Flags New Orleans Sorry for the long comment! My take on the video is that the people throughout the park are people like him who feel like they have to put on fake smiles in life, they have burdens and also are searching for hope just like NF. The booth where the lady is wiping off their fake smiles is a sign of progress but NF isn’t ready for it yet, than the people in white are taking him to the Next spot for change so they drop him off for him to change his clothes to white but he isn’t ready for it, so he passes on that too. Than he’s in the dark spot where it seems like people are just like him who haven’t been able to get out of the dark so they’re just stuck with their burdens and never found hope. But than he leaves that place because he also is not ready to give up like them so he takes his basket to the front of the line of people taking their burdens and I think MAYBE the hand that comes out is God’s telling Nate to let him take his burdens away. That’s my Theory.

Yea, it took me quite a few times before I realized he was talking to his negative thoughts and doubts. Then, everything makes more sense. However, the jury is still out on much of the symbolism in this video. The people in white I have heard all kinds of interpretations. I guess Nate wants to keep it ambiguous. I personally think it is his perception of how others don't have as many burdens as he does. Or it could be they all are zombies with their fake smiles, and not really facing life in real terms. I think the people in white clothes are people who are happy in life. Or getting the treatments they need. Some with white clothing still have black balloons known as burdens. As they go into the tents they get their white clothing and their smiles removed. You can see NF wiping his face to wipe the smile off, but still wondering why his clothes are black, which could resemble he's doing all the motions that "normal" people are, but he still feels he's in the dark. Edit: You mentioned that he's the only one wearing black and doing things that the others aren't. If you rewind the video in the beginning when he's rapping about his OCD, maybe a little before, there's only 1 other person behind him that's walking around aimlessly with all black clothing. EDIT 02: THE PEOPLE IN WHITE seem mindless because of their medications. They almost zombify you depending on your disorder. So the people in black are people going untreated but also trying to do the same motions as the treated people without the medication.
