This is one of my favorite songs of NF. And the bar that is the most impactful to me gets overlooked because it’s at the beginning of the first verse. YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH FOLLOWING THROUGH THATS WHY I GOT A PROBLEM WITH FOLLOWING YOU. Damn. Not only does that spotlight the real reason behind low self esteem because confidence is literally trusting yourself to do what you say you will do, but it completely describes the struggle of any man struggling to lead. Follow through and they will follow you. Trust yourself. And they will trust you. That takes a lot of ground work. And it starts with little things. All the things you say you need to do but get distracted or put off. Taking out the trash. Cleaning house. Set small goals and finish them. It’s working for me. I feel good about myself because I stopped making excuses. It’s real. And my wife sees me doing these things and she’s more likely to get behind me when I lay out plans and visions because she sees the follow through. She is beginning to realize that I will make things happen when I say I will that I will take care of her because I said I would and it really does start in the little things. And that’s a big part of being a leader. Especially a husband and father. If they can trust you that they will be safe and taken care of and that you will follow through they will follow you.

I feel like this song is a conversation between him and God. Every follower of christianity goes through a hard time with belief. Some battle with God, and I just always thought he was having a conversation with a response from God in the song.
