Heard this so many times, and STILL my heart starts racing the second I hear “HEY OPEN UP THE DRAWER!” Honestly, at this point, I start getting a little tense when I hear the first notes because I *know* what’s coming in this song. But holy crap, this is storytelling at its finest. The tension, the pacing, the realism, the perspective from the active bystander that’s just caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, tying all the details together with the boyfriend from the beginning, Nate’s voice ranging from a raging demand to a terrified hush to a panicked prayer to the almost cathartic despondency of the shock in the aftermath of the terror when everything is over and all you can do is breathe. And the music video captures the essence of the song *perfectly* - absolutely phenomenal!

I’ve watched this so many times and I still find something new every time I watch it. Greatest rapper ever. Enough said. This isn’t your typical rapper he literally made a movie in 5 minutes like cmon nobody does that!!!!

The first third of the song is a person living a poor life, struggling with almost everything, can barely even eat or get gas, who would probably say she hates her life. Then the line "I can't die today, I've got things to do". That hits so hard and it's just buried in the middle. We all might "hate" our lives but when put in a situation where it might end, we'd all be begging for just one more day. So damn powerful.
