Diuretics usually cause metabolic alkalosis due to potassium loss but acetazolamide is K+ sparing so acidosis.

Valency of lithium and calcium are both +2 so double increase in cation as against Na and K whose valencies are +1.

Metabolic alkalosis is countered by respiratory acidosis but why is the pH high?

So in respiratory acidosis how will u determine how much O2 to be given? CO2 drive should not be washed away either.

Mam in the example at time @ 30:15 ...student breathing rapidly that is hyperventilation....why cant it be metabolic acidosis since..there is hyperventilation In metabolic acidosis as well as a compensation... So is it like that ..k...breathing rapidly is caused by metabolic acidosis but it will lead to respiratory alkalosis if continued for long....So since the questions asked what do u expect out means it is asking regarding what it will lead to and not what it is caused by??
