@sullystpatrick
@sullystpatrick Жыл бұрын
His arms seem "short" relative to his weight, if so that makes for a bench pressing edge. Less distance for the bar to travel makes all the difference in rep output. As a random example Dillon at 6:50 has much more distance to cover in order to achieve full lockout which makes high reps more difficult. Same principle applies to deadlifts, barbell squats etc Not to say Barkley isnt much stronger than a guy like #27 (7:53) who did 17 while also having short arms

I just hit my PR of 225 and this is so motivating to me. I'm only 165 body weight and I want to get to a point where I can rep 225 for like 4-5 at least! Update: I just tried reps with 225 for the first time and was able to bang out 3! Feels solid, my next goal is 5-10. New update: I hit a new PR of 260 and now I can Rep 225 for 4-5 and hit 225 for 1-2 easily on my warmup sets! update: I’m now fighting mma so I’m not focused on heavy weight too much anymore but can still bang out a rep of 225. @@cj.59 almost all top level sports test, and almost all top level sports have people on peds, the testing isnt good, and its on purpose, a lot of the sanctioning bodies dont care about keeping it out 100%, just it not happening to a huge degree. Its even in the olympics, which has the largest governing body there is. its so understood in strength sports that athletes competing in tested federations are no longer refered to as clean or natural, just tested, because we understand that theyre still using, just being careful about what they take and when so they can test clean. Its in every single sport, every super hero movie (with the exception of the newest batman movie), and even in your local gym where theres nothin on the line bcs they just enjoy the strength and the look. I even know a couple of my coworkers who dont play sports and work out very casually are open about it. Id bet any amount of money that some of these guys are on peds, even if to a small degree. That doesnt discredit there work, and its not calling them out bcs like i said, its in ever sport, but we need to be honest and transparent about it for the sake of those comparing themselves to these people without knowing, and for the sake of the health of those using. Peds can be extremely dangerous, those using them need ro have access to blood work and information to keep themselves healthy, as opposed to picking their chemical and dosing based on what wont get caught.

You people saying the reps aren’t clean are crazy. The NFL combine and the NFL for that matter isn’t a bodybuilding or hypertrophy contest…it’s a power, speed and explosiveness contest. If you want to showcase how explosive and powerful you are, you’re not gonna lift 225 with perfect form and tempo…you’re gonna lift that shit as explosively and fast as possible. Now I’m not saying don’t use good form etc. but to expect these guys to perform the bench press like bodybuilders when they’re at an nfl combine is insane.

An old gym meathead. In my younger days at 5'11 195 lbs. on any given day bang out thirty reps at 225 on a flat bench. On decline forty to forty five reps. Now in my mid fifties the shoulders are shot. I'm still in the gym but haven't benched in years. Not sure I could even do one rep without a lot of pain.

@@reyza1899Bench pressing obviously. Even if you do it with “good” form, you will pay sooner or later. One of the many reasons I’m against bench pressing. Matter of fact, my focus has always been strict overhead pressing. Shoulder blades move freely, it’s more athletic and more impressive once you can press huge poundages above the head (your whole body is the stabilizer not the bench).

The clean and press is a better test of overall strength for athletes. The clean is the explosive part of the lift. And the strict press is the brute strength element. It perfectly tests both types of strength an athlete needs on the field.
