Refs need to be fined when they make really atrocious calls. They fine players for all sorts of stupid stuff, they need to fine refs for their bad calls and an even bigger fine if that call is in the last 2 minutes and defines the way a game ends. You get fined about $7,500 for throwing the ball into the crowd after a touchdown, so refs should face a $7,500 fine for every bad call and $15,000 if it's a bad call in the last 2 minutes. I don't think the refs are the ones truly behind these calls. Think about it. Let's use the Chiefs as an example. Put yourself in the mindset of an NFL executive. Travis Kelce starts dating Taylor Swift, her stans start watching him play, this leads to a BOOST in viewership, and even more viewership if these Stans wanna see their idol's true love play like a champion, viewership==🤑🤑🤑, you of course like that, you then realize that this relationship of theirs will be profitable so long as Travis Kelce plays like the #1 TD in the world, or more importantly, so long as Taylor Swift has a reason to watch NFL games, which she wouldn't if her boyfriend gets injured and is out for a few games or the season, thus no 🤑🤑🤑. So what do you do? Well If I were soulless enough to be an NFL executive, I would NOT allow that to happen by informing the referees that if Travis Kelce doesn't get well protected by flags against the defense for so much as touching him and "coincidentally" plays horribly or "coincidentally" gets injured, then the refs will be "coincidentally" severely punished, whether that means being fired for "poor performance" or sued for all their life-long wealth for... Idk, "sexual misconduct" since there are female refs, if that never happened then I'll make it up on the spot and coerce everyone to follow along the lie This would only applies to the Chiefs but is just an example of why these refs are only doing what they're being told to do. Plus, the NFL has a relationship with DraftKings, so there's DEFINITELY stuff going on behind the scenes that is fueling this

I just don't understand how if they can have a replay ready of any player on the field in 5 seconds, why they can't just challenge flags, and have the people upstairs say yes or no, and then continue. Clearly the refs aren't striving to be better. I'm curious tho to see how poorly they ref flag football in the olympics.

That would hurt the refs/NFLs ego too much to see all their terrible calls and dumbass rules being reviewed and overturned all the time.

3:27 they even timed the ball move so the old ref's feet would block the camera.

If you were confused by the call in the battle of the birds, the runner was ruled down by contact prior to the runners extension of the ball, which resulted in an incorrect spot of the ball. I really wish the Refs had clarified why they were doing it, because I was calling bs until I watched the replay.

@@KnightJauneArc What I was suggesting was that the refs make an announcement on the field like they do when the pick up an unwarranted penalty flag. This was not the only coverage of the game, so other commentators may not have Gene as a resource.

How the hell are refs allowed to change the spot of the ball like that?

That pass by Goff that wasn't flagged for grounding is because his running back was within 5-7 yards. Sure, the running back had no chance to catch it, but he was in the vicinity, which is all that matters. Otherwise, I do agree with most of these shown here.
@wattsinc.7 ай бұрын
Lol yea they show the wrong one obviously that wasnt intentional grounding but the Crosby strip sack when his knee was down was the right one too show
@lonniedecker90737 ай бұрын
They actually addressed this later in the broadcast with a comment from New York stating the ball went almost directly over the RBs head, therefore not grounding (regardless of where the ball landed).

Forward progress being stopped shouldn't exist. It hurts both sides of the ball and it purely makes the game worse

There is 2 aspects to 6:26 that make it *REALLY* bad; 1. Referees are ALWAYS prematurely blowing plays dead when they shouldn't, and they almost NEVER admit that they screwed up afterwards. Here, the Pats kept playing defense because there was no whistle and actually forced a turnover, yet the officials say, "There SHOULD HAVE been a whistle because forward progress was stopped" and Miami kept the ball, which was bullshit and brings me to the other aspect. 2. Last year, when the Pats faced the Bengals, Pats where 5 yards away from a potential game winning touchdown. Rhamondre Stevenson runs the ball up the gut, was stuffed, gets pushed back for like 3 seconds, a Bengals defender pops the ball out of his hands and Bengals recover the "fumble" and eventually win. Not a SINGLE whistle was blown when Rhamondre was getting pushed back, yet in this game, Raheem Mostert's forward progress gets stopped for less than 2 seconds, isn't pushed back, Tavai punches the ball out and Pats recover, yet the officials say it's not a fumble, despite the fact there was also not a single whistle blown during the play. I feel like I should also mention that in the game the Pats played the week after facing the Bengals (funny enough, their opponent was the Dolphins), they forced another fumble on the Miami RB who was MID-AIR and moving forward, yet the officials called forward progress and Miami kept the ball. There is a pattern of utter incompetence here, and I do not like it one bit.

obviously it's impossible for every call to be right.. the issue is when EVERYONE watching the game in person or on tv KNOW the right call and the 3 refs on the field get it wrong. Even when the "expert/vet" ref joins the broadcast after a controversial call knows the right call.. that's when someone like that "special ref/sky ref" needs the ability to step in and make the right call.

To the people talking about the 12:44 play, it was a shift and once the back became set it then was a motion for the receiver. This it not the standard use of a shift but will see a rise of it as it helps hide the formation pre snap. The nfl might change the rule to not allow this but it is a loophole for now
@Kickflipguy7 ай бұрын
They both started moving at the same time though. You can’t have two players in motion.
@awsome45187 ай бұрын
@@Kickflipguy you can have two or more people in motion, this is called a shift which is what the dolphins did. the running back came out of the backfield with the wide receiver went to the slot, this is the shift, and once the running back became set then the wide receiver went into motion back to the outside and then back to the slot.
@lordec9117 ай бұрын
Two or more in motion is a shift... but all players have to become set for 1sec before another motion/shift can happen. The WR was in constant motion during/after the shift and never came set, so it should have been an illegal procedure/shift. Could have also been called an illegal motion, since the WR was moving towards the LoS at the time of the snap.

The head ref is the Jags game this week is one of the worst sports officials I've ever seen. NFL's Angel Hernandez. Blatant underdog favoritism recently. Sports betting is evil. Except for the moment where Kelce throws his hands in the air and the refs are like, "oh my bad, here you go," and throw another defensive holding penalty KC's way AFTER THE WHISTLE.
