If refs were fined for bad calls it would be a different game

If the players were paid by performance metrics instead of train loans of cash, it would be a different game. If the players were seriously fined as a significant percentage of their salary for unnecessary roughness, unsportsmanlike conduct, etc. (read: "being an asshole" penalties), we'd see a cleaner game. If taunting and all the stupid 'celebrations' resulted in immediate ejections, we'd see a faster game with less fights.

Dude tried to wrap up a receiver after 5 yards… hate it all you want but that’s a penalty. The second one with the pass interference, he grabbed his arm and pulled before anyone could know if the ball was catchable or not, which still would be defensive holding and an automatic first down. The Colts screwed themselves.

Burfict was known to be doing it on purpose. At least with Jackson, a lot of those hits he's been fined or suspended for shouldn't be, or are ticky-tack calls imo. A few, like the one against Washington, were legit calls with no excuses, but I think the one he most recently got ejected for is a bad call. He hit the chest area and didn't lead with his helmet, so it should have been legal.

@@Kings0424 Looked like he was trying to get the Seahawks player's hand off of him and in doing so, accidently made contact with the ref as well. There should be some sort of leniency in that situation. It was fairly obvious it was accidental. If there was any doubt it wasn't accidental, then they should eject him though as they can't risk it.

Honestly the “defenseless player rule” is kinda stupid. I remember this one interview where Tom Brady was talking about it and he said something about from a quarterbacks perspective, don’t throw the slant if he see ray Lewis hurling at the receiver. That being said, if it’s going to be a penalty it should honestly be on the quarterback for putting the receiver in a situation where they have to catch the ball then immediately brace for impact.
