Suggestion for a future installment if there is one: calling back-to-back timeouts without a play in between. Washington drew that one in a game against the Bills in 2007 when they tried to double-ice the kicker.

Another one would be the simulating the snap count penalty between Arizona-Cincinnati in 2015. One of the Cincinnati players on defense tried to say "hike" that caused a Arizona player to false start. Because the umpire was behind the linebackers when this play happened (he's only in this position for the final 2 minutes of each half), It was a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Cincinnati that resulted in Arizona being put in good field position for an easy field goal to win the game as time expired.

In today's NFL, that Csonka penalty would be a toss for a punch.
@pudgeboyardee32
@pudgeboyardee32 Жыл бұрын
Nah it'd be called the way it was. Forearm shivers can only be delivered to the body. Even in csonkas day a forearm to the head was illegal. The reason it was made illegal was how open the eye slot on a lot of older helmets were. If you threw a forearm to the head you stood a good chance of splitting someones nose open. Because that's what happens when a forearm hits somebody's face; it splits open. It's intentional injury. That's been cut and dry for 50 years. Linemen were taught to block with forearms but they didn't get 15 lateral yards to build a head of steam and use their forearm like a hatchet. But even linemen sometimes ended up slipping one through, intentional or otherwise, which is why so many guys ended up with bloody faces in spite of having a helmet and facemask. Helmet designs got changed and blocking rules and practices changed. And the whole point of helmets was to stop all the facial bleeding in the first place, besides being dangerous and generally unhealthy the bloodiness of the game was the number one reason people didn't want to see football played prior to facemasks being developed. Made it hard to argue football wasn't just a bloodsport when every jersey and every face was covered in two or three people's blood. Just wanted to point out football has always been a sport with evolving rules. Kinda like stock car racing, baseball, basketball, soccer, track and field, and literally every sport. And I have to respect nascar fans for getting behind safety changes every time somebody gets hurt on the track. They'd rather still have dale Earnhardt around than complain about new safety rules and features. And their sport is inherently dangerous. They aren't there for the horror, they wanna watch races.

Once again, it is AMAZING to see absolute fucking NOBODIES on KZfaq that have NO education, NO skills, NO experience in football no value to society at all, thinking they know more about the rules of the NFL than professional referees with DECADES of experience AND the announcers with decades more who both knew what the call was going to be before it was made. Sorry, fucking idiot. but the kicker clearly initiated the contact. Holding his leg up longer than normal kicking motion would dictate. And then HE moved his leg into the defender to get hit ever so slightly so he could fall like a stone. It was the most obvious flop. Believe it or not, that referee is superior to you in every way you could measure a human life. And once of those ways is knowledge of the rules of football.

Yeah..And HE initiated the contact. He held his leg up longer than usual AND deliberately moved it into the defender. I can't believe how many morons here are arguing the most obvious flop attempt. It is why both announcers knew the call before it was made. You can't alter your kicking motion to try to make the defender lightly tap your toe that you left hanging in the air longer than usual. It truly is fucking amazing that total nobodies with absolutely no education or experience in football thinks they know more about a professional referee with DECADES of experience AND both announcers who knew before the call what it would be since it was so obvious. Wish you would have included the over where Randle got a qb to hit him and draw unnecessary roughness on the qb. Can't remember the QB though

If they would consistently call this penalty ( 0:50 ) Ezekiel Elliott would average 5 flags a game. He has to be one of the biggest offenders in the NFL and for some reason they hardly to almost never call it. .

Not even a Cowboys fan, it is a stupid rule and a stupid call, made by people who never played football at any level.

@@puppethound well I for one played Pee-wee, Junior league, Highschool and 2 years of college and I can tell you they have been calling that since I was in Pee-Wee. Anyone ( Offense or defense ) that lowers their head would get a flag. They just sort of phase it out and call it less the "bigger" you get for some reason when in fact it should be called more. A kid in my Highschool broke his neck doing this stuff on tackles. He was known as a big hitting Strong Safety but he ended up not playing another snap of football. If you watch some clips from the 70's and 80's you see RB's spearing people all the time with their helmets. It needs to be called more and removed from the game.

It's allowed for the running back within the tackle-box up to 2 yards downfield. (At least that was the rule as of a few years ago, to be honest though the NFL has lost me as a fan so I have no idea whether that's still the rule.)

Personal Foul for baiting a penalty should really become more common. It could really help cut down on the amount of foul baiting that exists in team sports. It is so bad that I even know it is a thing to include in playbooks, listen to McAfee's commentary on the worst play in NFL history.
@puppethound
@puppethound 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I agree. The NBA got that way due to the huge influx of European players coming into the league the last 15-20 years, so it became common place.

The Eagles were trying to run the “sleeper” play where you swap a whole bunch of people in and out quickly, and leave one of them near the sideline and hope the other team doesn’t see them. If you do that, the player coming in the game has to come in to at least the numbers on the field before going back towards the sideline. Otherwise it’s illegal substitution.

@Terrell070

@@LarryTheBassplayer Yes, they changed the rule. Today you cannot pull or carry the runner. A rule you'll probably never see is goaltending in the NFL. It's illegal to stand by the goalposts and knock down a ball that's about to go over the crossbar. The officials can award the field goal in that case. It would be called either "unsportsmanlike conduct" or "Palpably Unfair Act". The latter is extremely rare, and as far as I know has never been called. There was a possiblity of it happening in the Super Bowl between the Ravens & 49ers. Ravens took an intentional safety rather than punting from their own end zone. Before the safety kick, Ravens' QB Joe Flacco told his teammates to illegally run on the field to tackle the returner should it look like he was going to score. It's likely that the officials would have awarded the 49ers a touchdown had that happened. I can't be sure of that.

I think it's specifically for subbing out, you can't dodge a 12th man penalty by leaving the end of the field.

The PHI penalty in the PHI-MIN was a Deception Foul. He was within five yards of the sideline, so he was attempting to unfairly deceive MIN with respect to the fake punt. Good catch on that rare call.
