In the context of which Ryan was speaking (football talk), I absolutely thought he was talking about giving someone a potential concussion when he used the term "Putting him to sleep". If you hit high you risk giving someone a concussion. If you hit low you risk blowing out a knee. In the context of football talk it made perfect sense. And if there was any confusion on what Ryan meant, Skip & company should habe simply asked or discussed in such a manner. And I dont mean saying "I don't believe he meant to kill someone" towards the very end of the video as Ryan stated. The message was already driven to the audience to downgrade his character.

And another thing, “put him to sleep” has to be interpreted in the context in which it’s said. The way Ryan used it meant to knock the person out of the game. Besides that, Ryan said “If I knew I was going to get fined $40,000, I would have earned it.” It’s a useless, heat of the moment statement because most of us know he wouldn’t take an opponent’s knees out or “try” to give an opponent a concussion just so he could “earn” the fine.

I played sports, not as a pro obviously, but we used to say "put to sleep" when someone was knocked out bc they are in a sleeplike state when they are knocked out! Ex. "If I can get to him, I'm gonna put his ass to sleep" or "damn he put him to sleep"! Ryan Clark is 100% right as far as I know!
