Gronk was important for outside runs but in terms of inside running he probably was a good enough blocker to seal the backside and allow wirfs or smith to double, dont have film to support this but I assume he did allow for that

Yes, he never won a superbowl but tons of great qbs never made it that far either. Think of how terrible most of his defenses were and how mediocre his coaching always was. And, until the mid 2010s, he had one of the worst O lines in football. What he accomplished despite all that should definitely qualify him as a great qb and that's coming from the fan of a division rival.
