Did not have his own teeth, either, and loved to chew gum in games while on the sideline bench, with only his gums; he said it felt incredible. He was a hitter..and a not so smooth interceptor who would leap, dive, and crash into people on a tipped ball, as he tried to pick it off. No one ever played harder and with more effort..well, maybe, Walt Garrison or Walter Payton, or Floyd Little...maybe. With his broken beak, LARRY WILSON was MR. CARDINAL.

Fred Dean was NOT Big Hands. That was Gary Johnson, his Chargers and 49ers teammate. They also could have been college teammates, but Dean spurned Grambling for Louisiana Tech, surprising given (a) Eddie Robinson's track record developing NFL talent and (b) Tech didn't have any black players until only a couple of seasons before Dean arrived (Terry Bradshaw never had a black teammate with the Bulldogs).

Bobby Mitchell was traded to the all-white Washington REDSKINS. The team was named the REDSKINS before 2020, okay? It's not hate speech to use the word REDSKINS when discussing Washington football from 1937 through 2019. REDSKINS.
