Episode 7 of The Pathway follows the next stage of the International Player Pathway where the kickers head over to Indianapolis to showcase their talents in front of 32 NFL Scouts.
A new series which will be following the Journey of Louis Rees-Zammit and the class of 2024 as they embark on their pursuit of the NFL dream via the International Player Pathway Program. On this 10 week intensive training camp, we will bring you unrivalled access to the players, the coaches and the lives of the young men trying to achieve something only few will do... Bayron looks the real deal. This dude played basketball? Holy. As a big rugby guy, LRZ and Mallinder are who brought my attention to the IPP but it's clear this is a very solid group and I wish them all the best. I'm still biased to the rugby boys though 😂

Honestly if we could get more kickers/punters over here who are athletes overall, I feel like every team would love that. Pat McAfee was one of the few kickers who kept himself in such shape that he could absolutely rock returners with huge tackles and not get left in the dust - this is a rare player in the NFL

I want nothing more for Rees Lightning than to be the biggest success in the NFL. I’m a massive Rugby fan. Watch every Sale Sharks game and most of 6 Nations. What do you think makes him so special compared to the hundreds of Division 1 college players who’ve grown up in this country playing football. Think of all the players in California, Texas and Florida. Again, I want all the best for him. This will be extremely hard.

@@usarugbyleagueunionfan I agree it will be extremely hard especially at a skill position like wide receiver where I think the skill gap will just be too large to overcome. However I do think he has elite height, weight, speed which could be utilized on special teams. I feel as if running back would be a better spot for him as I think it may be easier for him as a natural runner compared to wide receiver which requires pretty nuanced route running skills at the nfl.

@@usarugbyleagueunionfan transferrable skills, athleticism and elite level experience from rugby in which he has excelled on the world stage. That's what makes him special compared to them. Don't know if he'll make it but that's what sets him apart from others.

The Kickers had their Pro Day but will also attend the other 10 athletes at their Pro Day which is Wed 20th.

Yeah it's semantics but the NFL Combine is one event in Indianapolis (with the specialists now having their own combine of-sorts starting this year) and then there are Pro Days which are like showcases that individual schools or players put on for NFL scouts to come to if they wish. Also, teams have individual players come in for visits

It has to do with how close they would have been to be College eligible if they would have fit that criteria they are Draft eligible which is 3 of them. If not like the other 7 they are free agents
