makes you feel like your racing against an tuned phantasmal car being driven by the ghost of someone that died on an highway, and is haunting it forever till someone frees them by winning against them, and the ghost not being limited by organic and solid flaws (such as stress and gravity) means its unbeatable, left decades haunting the abandoned highway (since it aggressively attacked anyone that came to it without the goal of racing him) until many decades in the future, if not 1-2 centuries, where an racer with an futuristic racing car races against him and wins, leading to him thanking him after leaving his car before an lightning bolt falls on it to de-ghostify it back into being an real car as an gift, before he stretches his arms sideways, hands open pointing upwards alongside the head looking up, as the wind slowly dissipates him from existence with him having his eyes closed and his face in blissful happiness, vanishing into the other side, with his suffering finally coming to an end because he can finally move on after having been bested

Vibes/atmosphere are very important for a racing game. NFS Most Wanted 05 and Carbon had these vibes you were speaking of. It's that thing EA can't nail anymore. I don't need a cast of colorful characters that won't stfu in my racing game, I need atmosphere, I need a good soundtrack and I need mechanics that make me feel like I'm actually going fast in my cars again. I feel like an old man at 26 saying this but there was no reason for the NFS series to fall this hard the last few years

+Wolff Basically each car class had it's way of driving, Tuners where the cheapest, easiest to control but the slowest, Muscles ran the fastest but where hard to control, Exotics where the jack of all trades master of none but the most expensive in the game.

I loved how older games had music like this, specific to a certain scenario. Like here, it's for a class of car, Racedriver GRID and GRID 2 kicked in music at the end of the race and I remember the music in Carbon changing depending on how your race was going

Theres an alternative version of this track that plays when you're fighting for your life to catch (back?) up to the 1st place if memory serves and it goes absolutely bonkers. It lets you know that you're at an advantage but in spite of that need to put in your best effort to capitalize on it as it is a fleeting opportunity and awesomely encapsulates the aggression you need to apply to your play-style in these moments in order to do so... I guess its time to replay carbon again.

I always complete the game with an exotic, but today was my first time with a tuner ( Evo IX). However, this is my favourite theme out of the three ... and I always get sad when I hear it over the ending titles. Great game !

You can have good engine power, true, but what the heck is an engine power if your car slides like a soap? This is how muscle cars works, and this is why muscle cars are the worst class to race (You need A LOT of skills to beat the game with em). Tuner and exotics are far better and far more stable

Absolutely, it may not have the best top speed but the handling compensates, especially when you take into consideration that there are many tricky twists and turns on the map.

for me this is the best nfs game to ever come out mainly cuz of the deep customization and the awsome soundtrack! damn im so nostalgic right now!

while gran turismo gives us lo-fi, chill, cafe-relaxing music while browsing around, because that game is "legal" racing, then there is Carbon, an underground street racing scene. What a perfect contrast!

Yeah haha, theres people out there that beat him with a tuner or something but I might've used a porche or viper I don't remember it's been a while. I might get the game again for probably the Wii or PS3.

Love how Neville calls my M3 GTR an "exotic toy" when the cops show up in some of the races. lol damn straight that toy just destroyed all other suckers out there, from Most Wanted and onward, she is always the "most wanted".
