Love this song, what is he saying? Some of the images are kind of disturbing, what's the relevance for them? No disrespect I'm new to Judaism, just trying to get perspective. B'H

My Hebrew is not that great, but "nagila" means "we rejoice" and "halleluY-ah" means "praise G-d." "Ba z'man" means "has come" or "has arrived." "HaGe'ulah" means "The Redemption." So, the chorus says something like, "We rejoice, praise G-d: The time of Redemption has arrived!" I've sung this song many times, but as is typical for me, I only understand what the song is generally about, not the meaning of every word. I still find singing Jewish music from the Middle East and North Africa my highest and best "spiritual practice" as a Jew. (I have 8 [Ashkenazi] Jewish great-grandparents, but grew up in Middle America with no Judaism at all, and came to Judaism as an adult.) Kol tuv!

+Aryeh Agassi i am from middle east and i do know the culture of middle east. this is clearly an arabic music. just accept the fact that jewish culture has been influenced by arabic culture

Jews lived in North Africa and Mesopotamia way before the arab Invasion (or conquest) in the 7th century. So maybe arab culture was influenced by Israelite music

Aryeh Agassi very wrong logic. at the level of stupidity actually. jews and arabs come from common ancestors. they both are natives of middle east. so none of them comes from somewhere else. by the time of 7th century, the middle east were crowded with arabs for thousands of years. please dont say such stupid things for god's sake
