I’m a goalie and my defender shoved the right winger into me and he made pretty good contact I got up and I was more pissed at my defender than the guy that landed on me lol

I agree. and also, why would Pelech do something like that and get your goalie possible injured? that is not really "protecting" your goalie. If somone on my team would do this and I saw the video after, I would go F-in mental on the guy

Defenders shoving dudes into the goalie should be penalized. Especially if they immediatly go to cross check them when they're already down. The first clip is a perfect example of why they shit eneds to start getting called. Katchouk could've been seriously injured on that play.

What do the refs expect Lomberg to do? The goalie was way out of the net playing the puck. It is not at all Lomberg's fault.

Come on! He knew exactly what he was doing and he saw Raanta coming out for the puck. I think a major is fine. Just to be clear, Raanta also knew what he was doing putting himself in that position. When I was young(15-16) we were told by our goalie coach (who also was the goalie coach for Sweden's U16) that if a goalie comes far out of his net then just fucking run him over so that the next time he stays put. It wouldn't surprise me if Lomberg has gotten the same "advice" during his career and did exactly that. The situation was perfect with both skating for the puck. Unfortunately for him, the ref decided to be strict, fair enough. BTW, am a fan of both teams since they have a large contingent of my countryman. No problem with what Lomberg did but I'm not going to argue against the panalty either.

@@FaintAcrobat You're out of your mind. If goalies can just skate a quarter of the way up the ice and you have to just let them do whatever they want the entire game would be broken. Why wouldn't your goalie just ALWAYS come out to play the puck like that so every attacker has to turn away and let him do what he likes? That shouldn't have been a major. It shouldn't have even been a penalty.

@@FaintAcrobat it's a 50/50 puck and the goalie was out of his crease. The most they should've given him is 2 but even that would be too much. If the refs are gonna call 5 minute majors for hits on goalies leaving their crease then goalies shouldn't be allowed to leave it

What were the St. Louis commentators talking about saying its a hockey play meanwhile Buchnevich has both feet skating through the crease. What's the point of a crease if players can skate through it into the goalie

Agreed on that one. Skaters have no leg to stand on inside the crease unless they were pushed and make no attempt to leave. Buchnevich was in full control.

There needs to be a separate call when a team’s defenseman appears to push an opposing player into the goalie to try and get a goaltender interference call.

That should be an interference or holding call, because they’re not letting the opposing player avoid the collison

Some of these should've been "intend to injure" penalties on the defenders more than "interference" on the centers/wingers.

Lomberg's shouldn't have even been a penalty, that's Raanta's fault. Skate out of your crease like a skater and you should be able to be hit like one.

These kinds of videos show me as a fan that the league seriously needs to reexamine it's criteria for goaltender interference because I have seen a lot of plays where a defending player shoves an opposing player into his own goalie.

St Louis commentators are insanely biased, it was very clearly the players fault, skated right through the blue paint, no one pushing him and the commentators are like, well, its the goalies fault

@@chanceh9826 He wasn't trying to grab him, he was putting his glove out to incase the player tried to chip it over his left pad. Even if he had closelined him though, both him and the attacking player were so solidly in the blue paint that its still probably goalie interference.

Some of these shouldn't be penalties, if anything, the defender should be penalized for guiding the forward into their own goaltender. But some other ones should fall under intent to injure with how unaided the hit is

Genuine question, what's the point of the crease in the rulebook? I always thought that it played a part in goalie interference kr freezing a puck, but so many call like these make it clear that it doesn't.

The first hit was more of a blindside hit into the goalie. Sometimes these hit are caused by players who hit the goalie.

If a goalie comes out of his net to play the puck I think a player should be aloud to hit him that penalty for Florida on the Carolina goalie should not be a penalty, the argument of u don’t want goalies to get hurt players can’t be hitting goalies is dumb, goalies coming out to play a puck way out of there net means there now essentially becoming a player on the ice and I believe hitting them should be fair game, you wanna play it that far out your gonna pay the price, I’m a goalie been a goalie all my life I go out and play pucks knowing there’s nothing they can do about it and if they even touch me it’s a penalty dumbest thing in the world they should just lay me out if I do that

I had to skip the Pens vs Jets clip I’m sorry call me sexist but she is the WORST commentator in the NHL. Her voice is irritating. I’d rather listen to a loop of Rick Jenneret for 8 hours straight than that 20 second clip.
