Brayden Point scored the go-ahead goal midway through the second and Nikita Kucherov iced the game with the empty netter for his league leading 124th point of the season as the Tampa Bay Lightning picked up a huge win over the Boston Bruins 3-1.

Yes, but I would prefer another more rat-like player. I dunno, maybe Brad Marchand comes to mind. I wonder if Jeannot would go as easy with him. I think a lot of fans and player wish that someone would teach Marchand a similar, but preferably longer lesson in sportsmanship.

Tampa played a really good defensive game, their blue line didn’t allow themselves to get caught pinching and the forwards were quick to backcheck, two things they’ve had an issue with this year. Just a bad turnover on the Bruins goal.

The camera is mounted high on the glass, so he passed under the FOV since he was right against the boards, but presumably the camera on the other side would have caught it. You can see at 6:55 that Cirelli is entering the zone JUST ahead of Hagel. IDK why sportsnet doesn't have the other angle to show the offside.

There needs to be like a 10 second clock on the offsides replay bullshit. Yes lets get it right if it leads DIRECTLY to a goal but after some time...cut it off. Is there seriously no time limit as the rule stands now?

Not really. Everything is PP with him. Look at his numbers 5 on 5. The plus/minus is unreal. Certainly is no longer a superstar that should make $9 million or so a year. He's gone after this season unless he is wiling to take a serious pay cut. Very valuable on the PP but the Lightning have plenty of Captain material starting with number 77.

They didn’t show a good camera angle but apparently league officials in Toronto had a camera angle where 71 was over the line just slightly before the puck.

Apparently they saw white behind Cirelli’s skate and it was before the puck fully crossed or something like that…that’s my best explanation apparently it was conclusive enough to overturn the goal lol

I think since Cirelli hadn’t touched the puck after passing the blue line until after his skate also passed the blue line, it counts as offsides because he didn’t technically have “control” over the puck in the offensive zone. That’s my best guess, I remember there being a controversial offsides call a season or two ago with a goal Cale Makar scored with this exact same scenario.

I get it why you'd pull your goalie on the last 30 seconds or so, to put an extra player on the field, but if you are just one behind to equalise, nine times out of ten, the other side scores against your open net and they get another easy goal. If you hadn't pulled your goalie, you might have equalised, in the dying seconds of the match, and gone into extra time, and in extra time won! So pulling the goalie is not such a clever move, statistically! As I say, nine times out of ten, you invite another easy goal!

You are looking at stats wrong. Statistically it's more likely you score playing 6 on 5 than playing 5 on 5. If you suffer another goal, it wouldn't change much, you would loose anyway. The extra chance to score goal is why teams are doing it.

Hearing all the cheering when there is a fight just makes me feel sick! Yeah I know, it’s part of the game blah-blah, but did you ever watch the young child’s face when there’s a fight close to the boards? It breaks my heart that only a beautiful young soul looks so utterly distraught by two grown men bent on smashing in the face of another human in the name of standing up for a fellow player. Children are full of love and void of judgement and resentment, what a shame we think we grow wiser as we age when we don’t we just follow like lemmings! We have enough hate and violence in the world already, it’s just another example of what we have come to as a race. I love the game enough to continue to watch but the violence, don’t need it it just ruins the best spectator sport on the planet. Russell, not Gerrie!
