I love the way Benoit plays. Such a simple, effective style of defense. In the opening play, just the way he protects the puck from the forechecker. Solid.

Great Leafs win, but on Dallas's last (4th) goal, I wish TD Brodie would get out of the way so Sammy can see the shot. Either block the shot step aside.

When I saw Dallas make it 5-4 at 1:25 left, I immediately turned off the TV (because you know, leafs) but holy crap were they hanging by a thread in this game lmao The Leafs are undoubtedly the most unpredictable team in the NHL

I don’t think you can criticize Sammy on that one. Personally I think he should have been given a break, it’s ironic because what we don’t want is an Oettinger situation where we overplay the goalie to the point of exhaustion. He managed to keep the leafs lead against a really good team; he did enough.

@@adilet2370 yeah and he’s a damn beast I’m not denying that. I love the aves I think they have the cleanest game in the nhl, and as a result he actually has to generally make a lot less saves. But regardless, not everyone is built like him, some goalies are good but need breaks.

@@adilet2370 here’s the thing. Jones is a solid goalie, but he’s not top tier. Samsinov when he’s playing at his best is actually a playoff goalie, so they want to try and get him back into shape. However, im a big proponent of giving goalies breaks. A single loss can completely break a goalies confidence. Especially if they’ve won a few games against good teams, give them a break. No team is perfect they are gonna have losses, and the more you play the same goalie over and over the greater chance of them having a loss. What we really need is Woll back, then we will have 2 good goalies. Right now we have Sammy who is good, and Jones who is solid, but at the end of his career. I mean I know from personal experience playing video games, some days you are just completely off and can’t make anything happen, even if you are usually good at that particular game. I think Sammy had a slump, but he’s back on form now. Dallas is the top team in their division by far, getting a win against them is huge.

I didn't think he looked like he was swimming, but he wasn't sharp. He seemed to be mistiming things a bit, and losing track of the puck here and there.

Samsonov needed to be rested today, 5 in a row is a bit too much for him, especially when a more than capable alternate in Martin Jones is available and performing better.

Defensive holes???? What about Rielly ...he's useless defensively. The Leafs list him as 6ft1 and 225lbs which I do not believe for a second. If he is, he is the most soggy weak 225lbs ever seen. He is not a defense man or a forward. He's similar to BRUNCH ...not a full meal either way . Trade the weakling.

D is very important It all ties into strategy though also…you can’t have 6 makar’s on the same team…a good defensive structure is important…I think Toronto definitely needs some upgrades on D forsure, but there’s more missing

Knies cleared the front of the net for Marner’s goal. And Tavares made the play for the winning goal. It’s those plays that make a team win.

Leafs offense was quite sloppy in this one and they still scored 5 goals. Matthews alone should have had at least three goals with those chances he had.

Beat the jets twice this season. 1-1-1 vs flames 1-1 vs Canucks Beat Ottawa Beat Edmonton Lost at home to the habs 7 straight losses to the leafs tho.... (0-2 this season vs them) 6-5-1 so far vs Canadian opponents

@@FrequencyVibrationsyeah I'm a rangers fan. I personally like Georgie...but idk if he's a starter. He's more the back up. He's too in consistent to be a starter. That goal lafrienere scored in OT against you guys...if you didn't notice he had no idea where the puck was (he didn't even go down). He let in a lot of goals like that while he was in NY. His puck tracking isn't the greatest lol.

The Leafs need a rebuild! As it is now they are at least 6 players away from being a contender and where do you get 6 guys when the top 4 take up all the money? they need a #1 goaltender GOOD luck with that, 2 top d-men and one TOUGH one, Yeah not happening, and at least 2 top forwards. They should have never even signed Nylander! He should have been traded..

Well well well. Good game, even with horrible officiating on both sides. Those missed empty nets almost cost us the game though, have to burry the puck on those opportunities. Other than that, solid game all around. Benoit, Reaves and McCabe dishing the body, love to see it. Ggs!
