I know Boeser will not score 328 goals this year, and the Canucks won't win 82 games either, but I am just genuinely happy to see Boeser smiling on the ice - the last few years have been so difficult, and many have stopped believing in the Brock-star. Agreed. That's what I've been saying too this whole time, just give whatever he is asking for because it's not like it's gonna get any cheaper by season's end. So it makes no sense why Canucks wouldn't sign him right now unless they don't want to keep him.

@VanMichael21
@VanMichael21 6 ай бұрын
@@warshawgameshd3432 oh I agree with u there, since Dahlin got 11 then Petterson should get a min of 11.5, that's why in my head I already said to myself if Petterson was asking for 12 right now, the Canucks should immediately just give him that. But if it truly is about him wanting to be on a winning team, then I hope after tonight's results, he is leaning just that much closer to signing now lol 😁

Boeser 4 goals, JT 1 goal and 4 assists, and the bottom 6 also contributing thanks to Dakota Joshua's drive to the net on the rush. Love this start far more then a year ago! Ekholm is the most important player on the Oilers. They don't have the blueline or the goaltending to play their "give up 6 but try to score 7" game without him. I seriously just don't see how the Oilers are being considered cup contenders, they're built completely wrong.
@bajjanitor
@bajjanitor 6 ай бұрын
He rounds out their defense core for sure. But this was far beyond what 1 player could fix. Like how McDavid gives up the second goal by just being between Boeser and the puck carrier without even having his stick on the ice being emblematic. Intensity and attention to detail needs to increase.
@Zickened
@Zickened 6 ай бұрын
@@bajjanitor The oilers don't have a lack of depth, they have a lack of team. They have two really good players and beyond that, they have people doing their own thing. It's blatantly easy to see, they're a terrible team and have hype on top of it. None of them chase the puck, they have a bunch of prima donna princesses in a game that's very physical, without them wanting to participate and it shows. They're a team that has highlight reels for the NHL to advertise with and it shows. It's gross as hell, and that's why the league's fan base is done with the whole lot of them.
@dj9savy
@dj9savy 6 ай бұрын
I fully agree the oilers soiled this one, but it’s one game out of 82, I wouldn’t sell the farm to bet against the oilers because of one poor performance, even multiple poor performances. It’s kind of how this this team works they suck and then they come back and remind you that they are actually one of the best teams in the league with yes, two superstars, but it’s a team game and when they play well it’s not just those two guys. There is a team there it’s still the basically the same team that went full nuclear down the stretch last year.

With that Oiler defense, even a 4x6 piece of plywood would have got yanked. Pretty hard to have confidence with a bunch of 10 ply Dmen in front of you.

@@boneseyyl1060 100%, they were absolutely horrible in front of soup and skinner, coughing up the puck, no man coverage at the net. Oilers have really bad D core and people just refuse to listen.

Last season murphys law was in effect for vancouver.. All the D injuries, Demko getting hurt, the horvat contract trade saga, the disconnect between GM, president and Boudreau etc.. yet and still we finished above 500 with ahl goalies and ahl defencemen for over half our games. Fast forward to now and we have the coach sorted, got a tidy return for horvat, plugged in some better bottom 6 depth and penalty killing, 3 new actually serviceable nhl defenseman, and surprise surprise we look like a good hockey club. Noteworthy as well is the gap management between Ds and Forwards, how we are closing out the front of the net, and we actually look structured in how we are positioning ourselves on defence. This lead to many counter attacking chances in this game, as well as several power plays. As always we will have the worst schedule in the nhl later on in the season, with illogical 7 or 8 game road trips spanning 15k miles or some such nonsense, its imperative that we get point on the board early and often, in what is easily the deepest division in the NHL. Lets stay positive...

That was a season opener for the books, GG Canucks and the energy displayed was great to see. Boeser's output was a delight to behold, Garlands goal, though... Pettersson laid the perfect pass for him to skate onto, but Garland's hands? I thought it was a deflection off the pass, but the replay showed him collect, control and net the pass. Absolutely superb. My dude Joshua got into a scrap and potted a goal, I'm impressed with the guy, frankly. Then the Oilers got whiny about having eight scored on them. If you play badly enough to have eight scored on you then you deserve to have eight scored on you. Go Canucks!
