Ukko Pekka-Luukkonen shined between the pipes making 41 saves and Zemgus Girgensons third goal of the season held up as the game-winner as the Buffalo Sabres edged the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1.

Lucky? No. Crosby (who played phenomenal all game) was waaaay offsides on the one goal and the other called back goal was clearly goaltender interference. UPL played great. Give credit to where it's due

@@willahoy7649 he was out of position, the puck was 5 feet away when guentzel makes contact, its a weak call, contact or no contact that puck is in the net either way.

Regardless of the state of play, at 2:25 the announcer called it. "That was sick!" described exactly the "alien brain" of Sydney Crosby and his vision in taking Guentzel's feed and laying it out like a full course meal for O'Connor. Hockey IQ 1000.

С новым годом вас фанаты Питтов😅. Ну так бывает, когда после первой игры, где 4:0 , влетели Баффало, то в итоге, в конце серии 2:1 - Сейбрс. Ну а для фанатов Бизончиков пусть эта победа, и первый дубль в 2024 послужит им удачей на осиаток сезона. Если уж плей-офф не досигаем, то хоть серии побеждать. К стати Торонто то же уже влетели Сейбрс, ибо там 2:0 - Баффало, и одна всего-лишь игра у них осталась. Таки что : Let's go Buffalo🐃🐃🐃

Offsides being called back was fine, but the goalie interference call to me at least is pretty iffy. It was going to be a goal regardless, and guentzel’s skates were def not in the crease

@@benrobinson498 Guentzels skate was in the blue and he also made contact with the Sabre goalie prior to an attempted save. Only one of those is needed for an interference call.

The announcers when they see the play is clearly offsides 😂 but it was an absolutely filthy goal that was sick nasty! What a shame. Lets go Buffalo!

At least they aren't like Boston announcers that would have argued that the rule should be changed for that goal since it was so good. These guys at least said it was close after the first replay of it.

Правила в хоккее, есть правила, там очевидным было( вне игры + контакт с Пеккой) . Так что всё по делу. Баффало держались и хотели больше победить, хотя стая пернатых атаковали здорово

Have you heard about a rule called offside. It's very new they introduced it during the last pre-season, to be tried in various regular season games during the 2024 calendar year. This was one of these games, where they tried offside. You have to chill with the times.

How about we make a rule that if a goal gets called back for goalie interference, the offending player gets 2 minutes for goalie interference, like the rules state. Last time I heard, it was still a penalty. If you are not willing to throw a player in the box for a goalie interference call, then the goal should stand…

@@bjarczyk There's basically nothing positive to take away from this season. The drought continues another year, and we waste a prime year of Cozens, Dahlin, and Tage. Silver lining could be the draft but that's a long ways off still and a crapshoot.

Sabres are more healthy now and their schedule is looking way easier down the line. In their next 10 or so games they are playing teams like San Jose (twice), Chicago, Anaheim, Ottawa, Tampa (who are trending down hard, and whom the Sabres played well against last year) and Seattle. Jack Quinn's been a revelation, this guy is a proper player. Healthier and easier schedule could play to their advantage big time, so wouldn't be surprised if they crawled back just to miss the playoffs by 1 point again.

Inconsistency is mad for sure, but that call was correct. Making a contact on goalie (and his head nonetheless) inside crease is a goalie interference.
