SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) - "It kind of felt like a match made in heaven," said Frank Seravalli of the NHL team introduction at the Delta Center.
Seravalli, a polished hockey writer, breaking the biggest news stories for The Daily Faceoff, had never been to Utah prior to the welcoming ceremony held in downtown Salt Lake City.

Speaking as a Canadian hockey fan, hopefully you guys support your team and they have more success on the ice than in Arizona. We've been waiting for years for this. It looks like Utah will support their team. Here's hoping the franchise is run well and they have success, because I was sick and tired of bailing out that other team 20 years ago. You need a name by October, though. Utah Hockey Club doesn't work. I know there are a lot of Mormon jokes about it (my condolences), but just pick something and go with it. You have a lot of good, young players, both on the team and coming up in the system (you're welcome for Dylan Guenther, by the way). I want a Canadian team to win the Cup for once, but I want all the franchises to be supported by their fan bases. Something tells me you won't have hockey cheerleaders like some NHL teams do, though 😂.

Exciting to see this team finally get some fan support in a viable arena, with an owner who wants in invest in on and off ice quality. I can't wait to see the new iteration of this team take the ice next season.

Ryan Smith's biggest mistake, is saying he wants to renovate The Delta Center, and not build a new Arena. He is a charlatan. The Utah House approved 900 million $$$, for a new arena, and now he's doing an about face.

Does that 900ml still stand if he decides to build it in Draper? It may end up being a mistake say 5 yrs down the road, but something tells me he didn't just have an epiphany that he all the sudden wanted to stay in the Delta Center. 900 ml can change a lot of minds and heart. Up to him, his decision right or wrong. If he don't redesign the Delta Center he will cross a lot of people who want the Jazz and NHL in downtown SLC.

The 900 million was bonded for either a new separate NHL Stadium or renovations to the Delta Center or a combo of both specifically to ensure both teams stayed in downtown. There was never a guarantee of a separate hockey specific arena as far as the funding was concerned.
