More astonishing than Gretzys pro records are some of his records as a kid. For example, when Gretzky was 10 he scored 378 goals & 139 assists in one season with the Brantford Nadrofsky Steelers.

Another record that’ll almost surely never be broken is Lemieux scoring 5 goals 5 different ways in a game: power play, short handed, reg strength, penalty shot and empty net.

That will almost surely never be TIED, but it definitely won't be broken as I don't think there's another way to score a goal?
@HughJorgan111 ай бұрын
@@Kevinmac1120 Good point. An OT goal would be another way to score but the chances of that happening after an empty net goal is slim to none.
@Kevinmac112011 ай бұрын
@@HughJorgan1 good point, that would be the only other way. But I agree, no one is ever touching that. 5 goals in a game all in different ways is insane

2 records come to my mind Darryl Sittler had 10 points in one game against the Bruins in 1976 and Bobby Orr's 139 points as a defenseman in 70-71.

Did you ever listen to Sittler talk about what he had for pre game dinner??? Hilarious story !!!!

Henri Richard's 11 stanley cup will stand the test of time. Joe Malone's 44 goals in 20 games is another record that I think is unbreakable. It has stood for more than a hundred years now.

Yvon Lambert set a record in 1981-82 I can never see being broken. In 1981-82, he scored 64 points (25 goals, 39 assists) in 77 games for the Buffalo Sabres. He spent the entire 1982-83 season in the minors, playing for the Rochester Americans of the AHL. Unless we see a fully canceled season again, the record for most points in a season by a player who would spend the entire following season in the minors will never be broken.

Lol those Gretzky records are mind boggling. 424 games to get 1000 points? smh I like going to Michael Jordan videos where he’s being lauded as “The greatest professional athlete ever” and remind people that no one is greater than Gretzky for records and stats.

Babe Ruth. When he got 60, he had more homeruns than any other team... wasn't til 1961 whenhis homerun record was broken but not in the same amount of games so they put an asterisk... And still no player in any sport dominated a game as to dwarf all the other teams in production!

One thing I hadn't thought of before is that Gretzky did it before video. Really shows how analytical he had to be to be that great of a decision maker without analyzing video. I remember seeing years ago some video where he talked about his father telling him as a small boy that is a thinking man's game or something along those lines. To be so open minded so long ago is really unherd of.

The 1974-75 expansion Washington Capitals also set a record for fewest road wins in a season with….1! That will not be broken! After Wayne Gretzky set the record for most goals in a season with 92 in 1981-82 I felt strongly at the time that he would reach the 100 goal mark soon after.

There were two glaring records that were not mentioned. One is Darryl Sittler scoring ten points (6 goals and 4 assists) in one game. That record will never be broken. Even Gretzky and Lemieux could not tie or even break that record. The other one is Ian Turnbull scoring five goals in one game as a defenceman. Even Paul Coffey could not break that record.

Mario Lemieux's 5 goals 5 ways! Even strength - easy, power play - easy, short handed - tough to do, penalty shot - almost unheard of, empty net - easy. Short handed goals are few and far between, but to get a short handed goal on the same night you get to take a penalty shot, and that the game is close enough that your opponent pulls their goalie = damn near impossible!!!!!!
