In case you were wondering... Craig Anderson’s shut out was the FIRST game he played after his wife Nicholle was diagnosed with throat cancer. Oct 2016. Always seems strange to me to see somebody say "fighting is allowed" in the NHL. It's illegal play and has a major penalty associated with it. Play stops because it's illegal play. Just like in the NBA, NFL and MLB, fighting is not allowed by the rules; that's why it's penalized, without exception. Fights happen more frequently in the NHL, but that doesn't make it legal play. But yet people say it's "allowed".
@ChrisMcKee087
@ChrisMcKee087 5 жыл бұрын
Mr. Blutarsky it is allowed. You don't get suspended for fighting in the NHL. If you do that in other sports, there's usually a fine, suspension by the league or the team deals with the issue in-house. A lot of fights happen because a team mate got hit really hard and they are standing up for them.
@bbb462cid
@bbb462cid 5 жыл бұрын
And yet, fighting is clearly penalized and illegal play and is not allowed by the rules of the sport. You just quote me the stats on how many goals and assists have been awarded during a fight in the NHL. "Usually" something happening in another league- let alone another sport? That means nothing.
@taylornox
@taylornox 5 жыл бұрын
@@bbb462cid Although its not allowed there is a clear leniency - some of the fights that happen in hockey if they happened in football/rugby or most other sports would be career ending and you'd never play again.

Hockey is a gentleman’s game. Whilst it might be brutal during play, these guys respect each other and care about each other. For the most part, these guys are friends off the ice. It’s also been said that NHL’ers are the most polite professional athletes in the major North American sports.

There's a video I've been trying to find and for the life of me I can't, maybe you can Jens. Alot of these players, whilst they fight and curse eachother out on the ice, are friends off of it, when they see others hurt, they recognize that, they're all human. This is pure great sportsmanship. The Anderson one was really awesome as well, well deserved for him to get a shut out for his Mom.

A lot of people don't know that Bob probert and tie Domi we're close friends off the ice. Also him and Joe kocur who after he was traded went at it two or three times. Kocur was a Pall bearer at his funeral. Hockey is just a game, it becomes personal when you do your best to hurt somebody else. Most of these guys go out and have wings after the game because they have played on the same teams while growing up in a lot of cases

Sometimes I think people act as a stand up guy to put themselves in a good light, there is some selfishness there. Crosby’s felt genuinely good: he wasn’t in front of a crowd of people, he could’ve kept walking and that’d be fine but he made a simple gesture that means a lot. Say what you what about Crosby, but he is a genuinely nice guy

Once I had a very important game in a tournament and before the game the other team was on the bench waiting to get on the ice and we were across from them and we all started jumping up and down to show our respect. We won the game 1-0. At the end of the game the other team came in our locker room and told us how much fun they had playing us and how much they respected us as a team. Despite the fact they lost, they wished us luck in the finals and said they hope we win. This comes to show that hockey is the best sport.
