@@bradmcginn7106 The islanders were top 5 in most shots allowed and they barely made changes to their roster so it’s hard to see where they will improve. On top of that they also have one of the oldest teams in the entire NHL. A lot of people also forget they had more losses than wins. This is a recipe for disaster in my opinion.

Colorado isn’t going to trade for a goalie. If anything it will be for middle 6 forward. Georgiev isn’t great but he’s fine. They just extended their young backup for 2 years and drafted a 21 year old goalie at the top of the 2nd round. Zero chance the UPL stuff is true.

As a Blackhawks fan I was hoping Levshunov went back to Michigan State for his sophomore season. The Blackhawks rushed Kevin Korchinski to the NHL last season and by season’s end he looked like his confidence was shot. Now they appear to be rushing another teenager into professional hockey. For all this talk from Kyle Davidson about not rushing players like the prior regime did(Dach and Boqvist) he seems to doing the same thing. Makar,McAvoy,Power,Hughes to name a few top end defensemen all went back for a second season in the NCAA. It worked out just fine for them. I hope it works out but I just don’t understand the rush. Maybe they can send him to whatever junior team holds his rights but it sounds like Rockford is his likely destination.

I wouldnt be surprised to see Robertson as a sweetener in a Kampf trade. Liljegren trade would likely be a "Hockey trade" for a veteran bottom 6 guy.

Avs need a goaltender! Sid take your time, you have earned the right to pick the team that best fits your plans. Robertson Lilijgren for who ? Dubas might be interested if he can find cap space ? If not can't lose Lilijgren on waivers .

Ullmark, not Ullman, but I believe Boston is pretty far along in signing Swayman…it would be a terrible management error should they lose him…and Boston is not known for terrible management moves. I’m not a Boston fan, just pointing out some considerations on this thought.

You know I hate it when you guys say how the Crosby contract is such great value. Am I the only one that forgot how he had 3 major concussions when he signed it and was actually injured with one. He locked in at 87 mill which again at the time was the richest in the nhl. The penguins took a lot of risk and he locked in

Look at the % of the cap at the time. 14.5%. Would be equivalent to a $12.76m x 12 years in 2024-25 season.

Just because Sid and McKinnon appeared together in a Tim Horton's commercial doesn't make them friends. There is like a 10 year age gap between them. Do you hang with people younger than you??? Sid probably has more in common with Brad Marchand than McKinnon. Sid won't like the travel Colorado goes through. He stays on the East coast with less air travel

I grew up in Pittsburgh fan all my life I don’t like the way the direction Fenway sports group is taking this team the first couple years this is not shocking though they’re treating the penguins the same way they do the Boston Red Sox’s If Crosby leaves and doesn’t retire, penguin i’m done with the penguins and this ownership. I miss Mario was still in the majority on this wouldn’t even be a question.

Should Crosby elect to leave Pittsburgh, he would have his choice of where to go, all things being aligned. It seems unlikely he would choose to go to a rebuilding team, much less an arch-rival team like Philly or the Capitals, given his age and presumaby his desire to win another Cup. Dunno…a week ago no one would have imagined a legacy player, like Stamkos, being moved along. Now, Crosby too perhaps? The idea now seems more likely. It is fair to say that Crosby was not happy with Scooby (Dubas) signing Erik Karlsson and effectively breaking up the core (Letang being marginalized in this case) nor losing his buddy and linemate Guentzel due to cap constraints in large part due to signing Karlsson. I never understood many of Scooby’s moves in Toronto…and now I’ve been just as perplexed with what Scooby has done to the Pens. Thanks for making the Philly comment, it is definitely a thought starter.

That seems to be the way things are headed - the Marner camp has said outright that he will not waive his NMC. That said, should Tavares be willing to take an extension at a much lower number, he would still be a useful player as a bottom 6 or PP specialist starting 2025-26. Perhaps the situation will change once Berube has the chance to coach Marner…and there comes a mutual realization that Marner (and the Leafs) would be better off with a mid-season move.

As for Tavares, it seems unlikely he would move, especially as this is his final year at big bucks with the Leafs. For him to move, it would have to be to a team where he thinks he will have another chance at a Cup and the Leafs would have to swallow a lot of cap…likely involving a third party team as the Leafs could only eat 25% and Tavares at this stage would be worth somewhere about 1/2 of his current $11M AAV.

Ya The Dubas “plan” worked great in Toronto….if Crosby stays in Pittsburg after next season it should be at least $15M/yr/3yrs. He’s already discounted himself enough and he deserves to have a chance to win again for better money and longer term elsewhere instead of believing Dumbass Dubas

Sid shouldn't sign a contract with the Pens. 87 should get traded for a ransom at the deadline. Trade Crosby to the Oilers for Philip Broberg, Dylan Holloway, and Sam O'Reilly (or a 1st or Savoie). That would restock the Pens organization with 3 pieces. 87 and 97 could win the Cup together in Canada. 87 should then sign 1 year deals with the Pens as a UFA for the rest of his career. 87 being dealt at the deadline gives him the best chance to win the Cup and rebuilds the Pens.

Trading UPL is definetly possibe. I could see the Sabres making a big swing here somehow. Also don't forget, Reimer isn't just a third goalie, because Levi is still waivers exempt. They could Dustin Wolf him in the minors for one more year.

I think the idea that Crosby seeks an exit to a Cup contending team makes a lot of sense. In a perfect world, I’m sure Crosby would wish to retire as a Penguin. But at his age and with a team in decline around him, it does not seem like he would be happy with a rebuilding team that is locked into big dollars going to older players (Karlsson for one and even his good buddies in Letang and Malkin) and especially after cap constraints led to losing his linemate and friend, Guentzel. At this point, Crosby has a high marketable value and could waive his NMC to go to a Cup contender, otherwise he would simply waste another year and likely not make the playoffs with the Pens again, even if he continues to play his own best hockey. Crosby is a special player and deservedly is on the Mt Rushmore of Pittsburgh, but after seeing another legacy player like Stamkos be moved out of Tampa, the idea that Crosby could move as well no longer seems as far fetched. I don’t know what Scooby (Dubas) could possibly do to convince Sid that the Pens will be better this year (or next, etc)…so it really is up to Crosby on his next move. His choice - stay, play well, be loyal to his teammates and watch the team slip further this year, or move now to a real contender before father time catches up and he begins to lose his edge.
