New Hampshire Northcoast Railroad ex-Pennsy GP9's haul a loaded stone (gravel) train from Ossipee Aggregates to Dover, NH. 09/09/1992. This video starts at Rochester,NH, the lead engine must be turned to run long hood forward on Guilford (in order to see the signals). The NHN is not signaled, so the engine direction does not matter (the Pennsy geeps were set up long hood forward!). The train then hauls out towards Dover. See the other parts on our site. It was sometime in the 90's i believe I happened to be passing this exact spot where that wye used to be and the gravel train heading to boston had just derailed on that curve. Fully loaded cars of gravel had rolled both rails on their sides, leaving 6 of the cars sitting on the ground. It was amazing how efficient and quickly the crew rerailed those cars and were on there way again.

The company i work for has 1760, 1758, 1759, and 1755. They bought them from NHN in the 2003 I think. Great engines, had a chance to work on 58 and 60.

That wye isn't there anymore. All that track to Gonic has been pulled up, but it makes a great walking path! I live right next to the track since 1991.

Yes the NHN is still running....I believe all but one or two of the GP9's are gone. The road train usually runs with a pair of GP38's. We had permission to be on the property that day, but I understand that it's off limits now.

The only GP9 left is the 1757 (as seen here in this video) It is out of service due to a generator short. I think to this day it has been parked for 3 years! They have 2 GP38s and a GP18 now.

ADBF should buy it, for the parts at the very least.

I don't know much about horns, but K3H stands out to me. Probably because of 1751.

Hi Craig, Its been a while - - -( Where U bin Mang ! ) Lol I always loved railfanning DOBO/BODO going back in the late 1970s with the B&M and seeing a kinds of combos of GP-7/9/18/38 and the last F-7B #4267 which the B&M ran a lot on this train in 1978-79. In the Hey-day of Boston's Big Dig program gravel trains would run 60+ cars with 5 units and a few time reach 80 !! We will never see that again and the sound of five GP-9's in notch-8 running upgrade was something to see and hear !! For me the GP-38's that NHN have are pretty boring.
