Here's a quick video of a Southbound UP manifest train climbing up the grade at Dexter Oregon on the UP Brooklyn Sub with a good lashup of power including two SD70M's and a SD40.
These scenes were filmed with the professional DJI Inspire 2 and DJI Osmo Action.

This is beautiful scenery! I love seeing that wide variety of locomotives. I surprisingly saw UP 6600 around one week ago. There is quite a cool story on that locomotive, seeing it in Sacramento (or Roseville) going into the big Roseville train yard. I was visiting family who live right near the Fresno Subdivision, and saw the same exact train (cars and locomotives). It was probably rerouted at the Roseville yard. 6600 is my favorite UP number I have seen yet.

Wow. Great catch, Dan! Thanks for sharing. I was aghast when I saw that huge fill across the valley. A valley possibly created, because that fill had to come from somewhere! The money spent by railroads to get to locations where money is to be made, is astounding. I presume this was a previous Southern Pacific route. The West is decidedly beautiful.

When Southern Pacific was building the new Pengra Pass main around Lookout Point (the original line goes through the bottom of the lake), they built this fill so that the line didn’t have to take an unnecessary route farther south. There is a LOT of history online regarding this fill, and it’s all quite an amazing read.

EMD with 710 series engine-the way a locomotive is supposed to sound. And is still very popular around the world.

Another great video, what is this, the lumber train? A lot of centerbeam cars fully loaded, and possibly some of those box cars as well.

Thank you for documenting this train on the Union Pacific's Brooklyn Subdivision in 23 March 2022. The four engines on the train provided a good variety of manufacturers and models. In the opening scene is that new road construction or is it new railroad construction? I was wondering why there was such a lack of trees in that area. Then you made a comment about recent tree harvesting in the area.

Rock quarry alongside the track. Then a timber harvest area on both sides along the fill. No connection between the two other than location.

Why does one SD70M have a differently-shaped rear "radiator shroud" (not sure of the proper term) to the other?
@RonStanek
@RonStanek 2 жыл бұрын
The SD70Ms with flared radiators meet the more stringent Tier 1 exhaust emissions standards.Extra cooling capacity is needed. Those units are all a part of a 1,000 unit order that was placed with EMD in 1999 ... the first of them were the 'normal' SD70Ms, while the later ones were Tier 1 due to government regs that went into effect while those units were being built. The later produced units are also 4,300 HP instead of 4,000. Split cooling. That is, the aftercoolers that cool the air coming out of the turbocharger blower have their own loop to the radiators. This allows the intake air to be cooler and results in less NOx emissions.

I notice you always include the DJI Inspire 2, I know these drones are very expensive, what i was wondering do you get any sponsorship or some kind of kick back on mentioning this brand, I really enjoy your videos and I pass it on every chance I get. One more thing and this is just me, I would like to see more cameo or even a shot or two of you, I always look for your vehicle.

Sad about the clear cut. It looked like the original construction was located just above and higher on the bluff.
