I did like the video and I subscribed (which is rare). I might like to hear a little voice explanation once in a while, but I'll keep watching and see. I searched your channel for any content on tools or a tool kit one could buy with many of these specialty wrenches and items you have but I didn't see anything, perhaps a content idea if you're interested. Of course, I could start researching that and probably find plenty of content, I guess.

If you have this issue and don't fancy all the work your friend is a hair dryer. Warms up that horrid grease they use, keep clicking it until it starts working and finish off with some spray. Saves taking anything off the bike. Works well on older shifters where the grease has gone sticky and firmer with age.

I've been using Shimano XT M772 Rapid Fire plus shifters since 2011, and they still work Great🤘🤘

Thank you for your feedback. First, we washed the shifter with an automotive engine cleaner, and then with purified gasoline "galoshes", the closest analog of which is camping gasoline or coleman (camping) fuel

I’ve been wrestling with a gear set which didn’t shift down (to higher number gears) for ages. The derailleur seems fine so I shall check for this issue. It’s an old bike with an original Altus shifter so it’s quite possible. I’ll be delighted if this is the problem.

Used to run them under hot water with a bit of dissh detergent until the old grease unstuck, then a shot of Triflow and they clicked like new again.

Después del lavado, lubricamos el cambio con grasa mineral de frenos (es más líquida que la grasa de cadena o la grasa cálcica)

Bei alten Hebeln verhartzt oft das Fett zur Schmierung. Das muss raus und dann wiedervneues rein. Bremsenreiniger hilft oder besser 1/2Tage in Waschbenzin legen. Danach sauber machen neu ölen und zu 99% funtzt die Sache wieder

I'm just sort of wondering why not use some light grease such as was in the shifter before you cleaned it? Grease is a bit sticky but that is sort of the point I think some things take grease and some oil. The red stuff looks like marvel mystery oil (probably is packaged as something else). Anyway good detailed teardown and cleanup vid thanks.

@@NiceBikeService : niestety, ale nie mam konta na Facebooku (a na Twitterze wiadomo: króluje polityka i tam nie ma co zamieszczać tematów około-rowerowych). PS. Moim skromnym zdaniem: nic tak nie wpływa na rozwój kanału, jak częste uczestnictwo właściciela w komentarzach. 👍 No ale to wymaga sporo poświęcenia/wolnego czasu, niestety... Znam nawet JEDEN kanał, na którym żaden komentarz nie pozostaje bez odpowiedzi (jak to zobaczyłem, to byłem w szoku). 😊

What did you use to loosen? Or did you just work shifter repeatedly until it freed up?

Without a cable and a load, the shifter was barely shifting. After washing, we lubricated it with mineral brake oil (it is more liquid than chain oil or calcium oil)

Die Übersetzung ins deutsche ist aber alles andere als eine KI, eher eine künstliche Dummheit! "Die Fahrradgeschwindigkeiten funktionieren nicht" ist völlig absurd. 🤣Wahrscheinlich war die englischsprachige Vorgabe "bike speed" und das meint, "Die (Fahrrad-) Gangschaltung funktioniert nicht".😉
