This trip was made possible by Durston Gear. However, I was not paid or provided free gear, I just genuinely appreciate their amazing gear. Dan was kind enough to allow me to include their company information in the video. Check them out: durstongear.com/
Important: Great care was taken to respect this remote desert canyon environment and its sensitive sites. No animals, plants, desert crust, or ancient ruins were harmed in the making of this video. Thanks for watching!

You probably don’t need any suggestions on anything, but if you have a. chance, pick up the book The secret Knowledge of Water by Craig Childs. The sound and sight of running water in the desert and canyon lands is a wondrous event to behold. Keep on trekking, the silence with the wind blowing through the nooks snd crannies of the canyons is an overture in itself. ❤️ from Oregon.

I have found that anything by Craig Childs is amazing. The Animal Dialogs surprised me with his incredible detail and knowledge, and House of Rain amazed me to think he hiked all that himself. There are great lessons in every book, but his overall ability to describe nature is unmatched! Good reference!

In the ever-growing field of "I found this ancient ruin on Google Earth" and the implication no one has seen it before, your videos are so refreshing and honor the beauty and solitude of the desert. I especially like the unhurried pace and the scenes of squirrels drinking, rabbits hiding, the snake curled in the sun...all the things the other "explorers" miss while they're talking incessantly and usually without a windscreen on the mic. Your video quality is good, your eye for detail is keen and I'm subscribing and looking forward to more. I also appreciate that you don't disclose location. I think those who have to do some homework to find it and go there are much more likely to treat these places as fragile and sacred. You have a unique niche. Good work!

Beautiful cinematography. Congratulations on being the first channel out of the many American Southwest canyon exploration and "Google Search" ancient ruins channels that I've watched that showed a snake out of the hundreds made. One question though. Will you ever go back in the future and add commentary to these silent hike videos maybe free or as Patreon or Members Only exclusives? Oh. And always be careful of taking water to cool down. As a kid on holiday I visited a national park in Flagstaff and splashed my face to cool down. Just upstream was poison ivy hanging in it. I had it all over my face and body having ingested some. We traveled on to Texas where the temperature reached 113° at that tme and the van had no AC. It was a miserable ride.

Just one teensy niggling suggestion--whenever you wash your shirt way out there (or any other washed item), please pour your rinse waters into the sand NEAR to the pond. That way the sand can naturally filter out anything that leached out of your shirt, instead of adding that stuff right into the pond water. You have no idea how much detergent remains in clothing after traditional machine laundering. ...just sayin'. I do love everything about this adventure though!

Thank you for your kind words! I use a Fujifilm for my filming, which allows me to capture the stunning details of the landscape in beautiful color. Your appreciation for the composition means a lot to me. I appreciate your suggestion and commitment to environmental care, and I will certainly take it into account for future expeditions. By the way, I only use a small amount of 100% biodegradable soap for washing (no detergent here). Thanks again for watching and your kind words. See you next time!

Thanks for watching! Personally I bought my prayer flags in Nepal (you can watch my other videos in Nepal). I don’t have any more to give at the moment. You might be able to find some online. Thanks again 😊

There appears to be a ruin on the cliff directly behind you up on the left, at mark 1:59 in the video. I may be wrong, but it does look like structures and a door. Maybe next time you'll check it out.🙂

My question is, is the. Black gooey substance oozing out between the rock layers shilajit ? It's shown around the 5 minute mark under the paintings as he walks past .Any info would be greatly appreciated, opinions too for that matter.

Legend has it, if you touch the petroglyphs on that rock, you are cursed with 100 years of bad view counts on KZfaq. Fortunately, you are safe.

I was confused about the whole thing because I'm used to narration and it would have been helpful more for me. Sometimes it really helps would like to know more what I'm looking at. Helps me to spot things.

As many have already said, I really appreciate the lack of talking and music. Most people doing videos of this type of genre aren't necessarily bad about talking excessively, but this is a nice change of pace compared to your typical YT video with lots of "blah blah blah".

For sure one of the best filmed nature/canyon treks on YT, and completely without the endless nonsense, scripted chatter by the other nature/desert channels; I've been to this beautiful place before. But for me it could have been 500% better without the human troll in every single frame; as we all learned in film-class 101, every time a human enters the scene the attention goes to him/her and every single new frame here has a human troll walking through it which completely ruins ones enjoyment and concentration of just Mother Nature; otherwise it's absolutely stunning. (and if this is a solo trek then this guy easily walked twice the distance to set up/take down the needed equipment; I kind of doubt he'd do that but it's possible of course). Bottom line is that it's a step in the right direction without all the personal nonsense guesswork chatter constantly added in; it's hugely annoying and I simply kill the volume when watching. Super nice video, minus the troll...Cheers

Troll here 👋 I typically include myself as the subject to tell the story of the hike. Otherwise it's just random nature shots, which you can certainly find elsewhere on KZfaq. I do hike solo, which mean double or triple hiking distance. Thanks for the kind words about my filming and for watching 🙂

@@NicholasEager Howdy, I can totally appreciate your take on this, but for me, if NATURE is the star here, then images of a human inserted into every frame deminishes the entire experience at least for me the viewer; but of course this is just me opining, it's your channel. On a sidenote, I can watch nature films with people like David Attenborough, for hours on end, cause he's the master of staying out of the frame/video except for a few moments here and there to bring a personal touch, but he knows he's not the star, and I the viewer can immerse myself into what he's showing and telling me. I know what human beings look like, and it ain't all that interesting to me (unless of course it's Kim Kardashian; sorry, that's a new low even for me)...:):):) but when I watch a nature show, all I want to see is Mother Nature and all she has to offer. I know I'm boring you to death at this point, but I'm commenting simply because your video/filming is up there with the best, and that's a rarety on KZfaq. Of course I might totally be in the minority here, but such is life...:):):) Keep trekking, you do it verey well. Cheers
