You can edit guitars so it sounds a lot cleaner,. Like you say there are limits. Regardless this does not apply to Nick Johnston, he is legit this clean

Nick's the guitarist I have on if I'm doing something else. There's lots of nice tunes, melodies, occasional pyrotechnics, but nothing that'll take an active listen to appreciate (though some of the subtlety needs attention to notice, but not essential to enjoy it.) it's a passive listening experience. Unlike say Tony Macalpine, or Marty Friedman, or a Virgil Donati album. I have a couple of Nick's albums and he's very subtle, very smooth. I like it, but mostly I'm listening to rapid ADHD music so it's too passive unless I need chill.

I understand why you werent too interested, its a pretty slow song. Hes got songs that are much more exciting, i feel like, even though this is his most popular song, its a bad one to use to gauge his best work. Even on this album itself hes got much better ones. My favorite album though is either In a Locked Room on the Moon or Atomic Mind. The former has some of his densest writing and playing. Even If It Takes a Lifetime is one of the best

Really? This is in my opinion Nick Johnston's best song by far. It is the most melodic, has the most dense storytelling and just everything about it feels just right. The album itself I feel like is also the one with the most sense and purpose, the songs are really telling something instead of being just fast shreds.

@@gargaduk come on dude.... if you call THIS the most amazing song Nick ever did..... what's poor Dave gonna think?
@gargaduk8 ай бұрын
@@williamschnarr7961 Yes, what *will* he think? I don't think it's his cup of tea anyway. It's in my opinion the most amazing Nick Johnston song by quite a bit. Nick's strength is the melodic songwriting with a lot of breathing room, not fast shred-fests of playing scales up and down. Therefore I really think this is a good song to gauge his work and style. But of course Dave might be into faster songs generally, then of course he can check out Atomic Mind as well.

Boring! Pretty much nothing was a surprise to me. Whole lot of cliché. Cheers.

It's crazy how opinions can be so different. The most remarkable (hah) guitar song I have ever heard. In fact, it's my favorite piece of instrumental music of all time.

@@gargaduk I agree, the depth is insane, this is a guitarist who is well established by himself and the music is enjoyable which is ironically rare in guitar instrumentalists back then and even now
