Bought the Wiha bit set based on your recommendation. Well worth the money. Cheap Chinese bits will not last they shear off very easily.

I'm a locksmith and I own a mat made for lock cylinders and pins but works for guns, knives etc. Having a rubber mat is a great Idea especially when using solvents and oil/ grease.

Thanks for the video NIck I picked up a set of the wiha drivers on your recommendation from a previous video and they are awesome. I had a screw that had started to strip on a pm2 with another driver and thee wiha took the screw right out.

Great video Nick. A nice un-powered tool use when the Dremel is too likely to cause more harm than good, is a popsicle stick with a thin strip of 1000 grit on one side and 400 on the other. It's around 2 bucks a sheet for automotive wet/dry silicon carbide paper you want. It's a bit flexible and cheap as dirt to refinish small scratches and burred edges of parts fast. Follow on your strop for surprisingly great results. A little water based white craft glue is all you need to ahere the sandpaper. Cut the strip to popsicle width, and lightly smear the glue on the stick. Center up the sand paper down the stick . ( or all the way around, gluing all 4 sides - why not? ) Place the thing flat on a flat surface and put something like a book centered on top to stop the paper from curling. Go nuts and make another one with 1500/2000 and one with 220/320. Wow what a rant. Have a good one Nick!

Yup. Just wrecked another cheapie electrical screwdriver trying to disassemble a 2011 Macbook Pro and I'm thinking to myself, "What's that micro driver set Nick Shabazz uses?" End up searching for this video and scanning through from the beginning. Will be heading to Screwfix on Friday to pick up a Wiha driver set.

the driver is nice, though I’ve found friction fit drivers nearly always have more secure hold that magnetic drivers (not that they’re falling out, more so in that there’s no movement of the bits). Now, a friction fit + magnetic driver would be overkill but would be nice.

I like to use slip 2000 gun lube. It's non toxic and biodegradable, non petroleum, no Teflon, no silicon and comes in different viscosity. I like the gunlube/clp but EWL and EWL 30 are the thicker versions. It's a good cleaner lube and protection that I'm considering food safe in small enough quantity (as for knives used on food)

From Blade HQ I got a torx driver from Boker that worked with Wiha and I can tell you that Wiha bits will strip but under a lot of stress, so always heat up the screws that wont move easily! The whole driver is small and compact but it is super comfortable and above all it is magnetic so I can hold the driver upside down and not worry about losing the screws! Wiha bit definitely are the best! Here’s the link on Blade HQ if anyone is interested in getting one! www.bladehq.com/item--Boker-Knives-Toolkit-Torx--8073

Ordered some of the items here, but everyone should know that the soldering mat in Nick's Amazon store is not the one shown in the video. It does not have that edge all the way around it. I'm going to return it and try to find one that does have the edge all the way around. Actually, if you just do a search on Amazon for "soldering mat" you will find several that has that edge.

Nick Maccioli it was an inside joke. Nick did a live disassembly of the Fiance's Kershaw Link and the handle screws were free spinning and wouldn't come out so he had to resort to using red locktite to lock the female parts up so he could get it apart. It worked but he's very embarrassed by it.
@ohioknifelover
@ohioknifelover 6 жыл бұрын
kerryrwac On my Link it didnt have any Loctite at all, but yes the last body screw spun after I put blue Loctite on it. I’d recommend only using it for the clip and pivot

I don't think i've ever seen you use that mat in your disassembly videos, you usually just do them on that dimpled one.
@ohioknifelover
@ohioknifelover 6 жыл бұрын
Robert Lefeaux He uses the new mat during newer knife disassemblies! If you see him use the dimpled one it usually means that he has filmed that knife a little bit ago or he didnt want to use the new mat. Also he has so many knives to review so you may be seeing a knife that he got a month ago and he is catching up, no problems with that Nick! Keep being another awesome Nick in this world!
