The Colin Cowherd Podcast

The Colin Cowherd Podcast

Күн бұрын

Colin Cowherd is joined by 'First Things First' host Nick Wright to discuss the Caitlin Clark vs. Angel Reese rivalry. They react to Colin's take on former U.S. President Donald Trump. If Luka Doncic leads the Mavericks to an NBA Finals win over the Boston Celtics, is he capable of being a villain? Colin has a great take on why young quarterbacks don't model their game after Tom Brady and all choose Aaron Rodgers instead. C.J. Stroud had some interesting takes on a podcast recently, but what is the future for the young Houston Texans QB? Finally, Colin & Nick draft the best QBs in the NFL, you wont want to miss it.
Timeline:
00:00:00 - Reaction to Trump's verdict
00:15:00 - Caitlin Clark vs. Angel Reese
00:29:08 - Luka the biggest villain in sports?
00:34:08 - Aaron Rodgers over Tom Brady
00:45:07 - Worst takes
00:53:54 - NFL QB Draft

I’m a 21 year old white man in the definition of a middle class family in New York and let me tell you my family has never had a worse time with money in my lifetime and now that I’m old enough I see it for myself food and gas has never cost as much I feel it’s a little unfair how u guys portray the economy atm prices have skyrocketed portions have gone down and the salary hasn’t gone up at all if anything it’s gone down a little. But hey I don’t like or dislike anyone because of there political believes I think the party system is a bunch of bull shit to put people against each other to make the ppl weaker anyways so good on y’all for speaking your beliefs but you guys are well off ppl so ppl will naturally devalue your opinion either way lol in the end of the day it is what it is.

I agree. Just to be clear, I don't think going back to Trump will make things great. When you get down to brass tacks things would be about the same economically. All the gains will continue to go to the .1%. Both parties are corrupted and owned by corporations and billionaires. Presidents, Congress, the Supreme Court, etc. Very few politicians from either party really, truly support the little guy.

@@BoofDoofus Correct. The Median means far more than Average. And Median is $37,000. But there are even more telling numbers: Nearly 90m Americans are so poor they qualify for Medicaid. If you think these are just lazy people, think again. Over 60% of them are working, and over 80% live in a household where someone works. This means about 1/8th the population are essentially working poor. Half of all working Americans struggle so much they don't have a single penny in savings for retirement. They simply cannot afford it.

Nick needs to look at the labor statistics again yes unemployment is under 4% however that is due to the increased amount of people that have two or more jobs. So another words, the amount of jobs is less because people are working more than one job. That is a terrible data point for an economic situation. Don't get me wrong. I personally make more money than I ever have right now however I'm spending more on groceries and gas and just every day living to take care of my wife and kids then I ever have before, so the offset of the increased income isn't really noticed in my family due to the increase of my family's overhead

Y'all need to do a full on fantasy draft. 1 QB, 1 RB, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 LT, 1 Edge, 2 CBs, 1 LB, and 1 Safety. It may take 30-40min but I believe most of us have the attention span for it 😅

The “dollar being the strongest it’s ever been” is insane given the high inflation in the US and Europe. And his point about Europe is 2 years too late - there was a brief moment in early to mid 2022 when the Euro collapsed relative to the dollar, but now it has recovered and things are very expensive in Europe also.

Rent is too damn high. Becoming a homeowner is almost unattainable. Food has gone up 25% since 2020. I am a privileged person, with a good job with the state. I have a graduate degree without debt. I still feel like the economy is rough and feel nervous about the future of this country.

Great point about Clark being white. She's facing the Larry Bird idea that white athletes cannot compete with black athletes. That is true in many cases, but there are outliers. Clark and Bird in basketball, Tiger in golf, Dat Nguyen in football. A great player is a great player.

But he didn't really embrace it though right? He just ignored everybody and kept doing his thing. I don't think being unapologetic is the same as being a villain. The bad blood with Pete Rose was a little different. Same with Macguire, but then he went ahead and owned up to it anyways lol

Nick ! The problem is NOT how you are treating Brock Purdy. The problem is that if you remove Purdy on the back of his jersey, same plays, let the same stats and you just write Trey Lance instead... you would be praising the guy! That s bias.

Colin and Nick are great sportscasters. They really are. But they are very wealthy men by comparison to most people, and coastal elites. They are of course entitled to their political opinions just like anyone else, but they really don't understand what it's like for a lot of their fellow countrymen (and women) who struggle to get by, and not through lack of effort and hard work by those people. I just wish they'd keep their commentary to sports. The nation is as divided as it has been for a long while, and most of us just want to enjoy a ball game and have pointless arguments about which QB is better etc etc. Politics doesn't have to be discussed in every medium. This is a sports podcast. Stick to talking about sports. If you want to talk about politics be my guest, but don't do it on a sports podcast please.
