The BEST Small Parts Organizer - Small Parts Bins

I love those little flexible plastic trays that come in those small parts organizers. However, the cases they come in are horrible. The plastic gets caught on each other, the cases are brittle and break, it's just not fun. So today, I fix that problem by building a small parts organizer bin housing out of real wood, not cheap plastic. Enjoy!

That looks really nice! One thing you could have added was LED lighting to the rear wall so that you can see better inside

Yes that's not a bad idea, although in my shop it would be a "diffused" light due to all the dust that accumulates!

Just came here after watching Adam Savage's Sortimo sliding drawer cabinets build. I guess you're both bougie 😂 but his plywood was much worse. Probably could've used less material to maintain sheer stiffness with a single diagonal brace. I'm also wondering if half thickness interior uprights would also have worked and created a narrow cabinet if they were held sufficiently at the back to prevent sagging.

I am little concerned about the safety aspect of your video. Using your bare hands to push wood through a jointer is a little scary.

Thank you for your concern. I have since upgraded my jointer and have 2-3 push sticks laying around that I use when operating the jointer.

Is the hardboard drawer bottoms strong enough? No bowing?

Absolutely, they're great. Usually (as you know) hardboard isn't super strong. But with those pieces being so small in relation to the amount that's supported on the sides, they hold up fine. And one of those trays full of screws doesn't really weigh all that much.

..very nicely done. What does “bougie” mean, does it mean you take pride in how something looks and that you’re not just a utilitarian, that’s me as well then! There’s no beauty in function, the form matters too, ok take it easy

My guy, safe practices are basically non-existent in this video. It's a cool build, but your methods are sketchy AF. For any newbies that are watching: do not use the table saw or the jointer in the way he is doing it. He wont have all of his fingers for long.

Safety is indeed important. I now use push sticks and am comfortable with my tools, and use extra precaution with around blades, my guy.
