this is EXACTLY what shows like the grammys should be about. creativity, and theatrical performances that PUSH the boundaries of pop. nicki delivered an ICONIC performance that is still on par with performances going on today. it’s a shame that people like lady gaga can do this and be applauded, but nicki is now hated by most of the grammy committee. Nicki explained what happened on Queen Radio. She said that the day of the show they asked her not to perform because of the passing of Whitney Houston that occurred a few days prior. Mind you this is after they had her shoot commercials and everything to promote their show. She said the reasoning made no sense so she decided to perform anyway. The performance received backlash from the catholic church afterwards and ever since then she’s been blackballed by the Grammys

The Grammys came up to her right before her performance and told her not to perform because Whitney Houston had just passed away.. Nicki still went out and performed and after that they blackballed her from being nominated or winning awards! Everyone knows nicki should have at least 10 Grammys by now with how talented and successful she is.

This always makes me think of how in a beauty pageant you have another talent to display. Some rap girls can dance but Nicki is a theatre girl! She shows it in her face and body movements in performance.This was really art (once I was able to not look at it as any kind of demonic) can’t wait to see her on Broadway!! It’s a no brainer that she does Broadway one day!

One thing people are forgetting in the comments is that the grammys kept telling her to do interviews accepting all the heat/backlash regarding her performance. They wanted her to go out and apologize and be the scapegoat for everything, but she refused. Skip to the question starting at 2:40. Nicki has always been about standing up for herself even when powerful white execs are putting pressure on her. Even when it costed her to get blackballed from the grammys. She maintains her integrity. It's one of the things that has truly inspired me to bring to my life and how I stand up for myself! This was a good performance because it gets deep. Wasn’t Romans persona a homosexual boy who liked to dress up as a girl. So they considered that behavior as demonic in most religions so they tried to exercise that behavior out of him. I could be wrong

They felt like it was distasteful to have her perform the song and decided to tell her the second she was about to go on stage to not go out there . It's almost weird how Sam Smith and Kim Petras gave a rather demonic and cult worshipping symbolism performance at this year's Grammy and literally nobody said a thing. Nicki gave us a theatrical performance that was artiscally great and the whole internet including the Recording Academy had a fit because she used the song "Oh Come All Ye Faithful" condemning her and even black balling her from the awards over the years. Sam Smith will be back again next year winning awards cause they called his performance "art" but when a woman of colour does something they're ready to crucify them down smdh

And than they blackballed her from getting a Grammy for it being too “satanic” 🙄 queen of rap and cause she performed after being told 2 mins before going on stage to not perform
