Gorgeous boots. I will need to add a pair of their mock toes at some point. I got my first pair of Nicks (Prospector) earlier this month and already ordered a pair of Overlanders (HNW last), which arrive next week. These boots are incredible.

What do you think would be the best all around type for outdoors; hunting, hiking, backpacking, etc? I like the overlanders. I'm not sure about having such a high heel as in some of their other models, but maybe it helps? The urban drifters may help with reducing unnecessary weight that would be felt over long distances as compared to the overlanders, but I know sometimes an 8 inch height is nice.
@timelesstough37792 жыл бұрын
It's all going to come down to preference. Order something with the V100 outsole. Beyond that, go with whatever last / leather / height combination you like. 6in is nice for the summer. They breathe more, they are lighter, and they look a bit better with shorts if that's something you wear. 8in is going to offer a bit more ankle protection than 6in. Personally, I like the security of an 8in. They will also stay water proof in deeper water. As long as you aren't going through a lot of wet conditions, I'd probably go with the Urban Loggers.

Great video. I like that you had the two styles side by side to compare the two. I placed my order for a pair of the wedge sole Mocs a few weeks ago and have been on the fence whether or not to switch to the 55 last. I put in 10-13,000 steps on a normal work day mostly on concrete. Do you feel comfortable walking on the higher 55 last on concrete, or do you think the wedge is more suited for that?
@timelesstough37792 жыл бұрын
Hey! To be honest, I prefer the 55. I'm usually at the office for 10-12 hours a day, though I'm not putting in as many steps as you. I know a lot of guys say that wedge soles are better if you are working inside all day. But my foot is just more comfortable in the 55 last. Again - it all comes down to preference. I have heard people who said that even after months, they don't feel comfortable in the 55.
@timelesstough37792 жыл бұрын
I would also say, the HNW last with the wedge sole feels similar to other boot brands I've tried. If you are worried about not liking the 55 last, the HNW might be the "safer" bet.

I actually have 4 different style of whites boots I bought my first pair in the mid 90s love every single one of them I've had a hard time buying nicks I know that they are owned by a Japanese company but they are still built in the USA with U.S parts.i also own 1 pair of wesco boots they are also awsome boots I am a maintenance mechanic in a big juice plant and I am on concrete 12 hrs a day alot of times 7 days a week you really can't go wrong with any of the northwest made boots. I am wanting a pair of those mock toe boots that whites make but I might just break down and get my first pair of nicks love your videos keep them coming

Does the hnw have about the same amount of arch as a boot like iron rangers, or is it somewhere between iron rangers and nicks 55?
@timelesstough37792 жыл бұрын
Hmmm I would say it is a hair more than the Iron Rangers. But it isn't a lot more. It's also a little tough for me to tell, because my boots on the HNW last have the wedge sole which changes the feel of the boot.

I’ve never had a pair of boots with leather insoles. I’d like to purchase some nicks I’m just worried about the hardness of the insole. I’ve had 2 pairs of redwing 202s in the last 10 yrs and they use a cushioned insole and are comfortable. Do you have an opinion on the two insoles and if so which do u prefer.
@timelesstough37792 жыл бұрын
Personally, I like leather insoles in the long run. They are definitely harder under foot - but after awhile, they form to the shape of your foot and end up being more comfortable than any of my other shoes.
@jonnymac31 Жыл бұрын
They will go from being the most uncomfortable boot you've ever had to the most comfortable boot you've ever had. The leather insoles are great.

Can you compare/contrast the build quality/robustness of Nicks Boots (as best you can) to the other handmade boot builders? (Whites - Viberg - Wesco & a few others)
@timelesstough37792 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I can't speak directly to Whites / Viberg / Wesco. I've only owned Red Wing and Grant Stone in the past. That being said, I've seen way more issues with White's QC issues pop up online than I ever have with Nicks. Maybe there are more of White's boots out there so there is more of a chance for poor QC? I've tried White's on at some local stores and they all looked great. But I can't speak to what ordering or owning a pair is like.
@TerryManitoba2 жыл бұрын
@@timelesstough3779 I have a few pair of Whites & Vibeg boots & consider them of a similar build robustness. & I know they are built way better than most. I was just curious as the Nicks Boots "appear" (from videos) to be built just a bit more robust in many ways than the other handmade boots as don't really know I have not seen a pair of Nicks in the flesh. I can attest that the back pull loop is not thick enough on the Whites. I have blown thought a couple loops and the loops on my other Whites boots are close to breaking. The leather is just to thin...
@timelesstough37792 жыл бұрын
@@TerryManitoba Yeah - if you take a look at Carl Murawski's channel, he has a video cutting apart a pair of Nicks and a pair of Whites and comparing them. The general finding was that both were made well, but that Nicks was definitely a step up in quality and durability. I'm really happy with Nicks on both the customer service side and the quality side of things. The stitching probably won't be as perfect as something like a Viberg. But Nicks has nailed every part of the boot that matters for functionality and durability.
@TerryManitoba2 жыл бұрын
