A common problem with all soaps in recent times to be honest. Nicky and Suni showed passion in their first hook up but then are quickly reduced to just being a gay couple that show no affection towards each other. Same thing happened to Marcus and Ethan. Same thing happened to Ben and Callum in EE. Similar thing happened to Billy and Paul (although they still at least kiss each other from time at least until they eventually kill Paul off in the near future). Hollyoaks is the only exception to this rule where they still allow their LGBT characters to show affection.

@@zdcosner3766 Yes, I also noticed that there was some passion early on but it's just petered away; ironic that because we've seen no affection between the two lately and yet Nicky comes out of the blue and professes his love for Suni. And you're right about Ethan also, and Ben and Callum too!! Something suspicious here, don't you think? And YES, I sort of noticed Paul and Billy go off the boil ... too much of a co-incidence? I'm not from the UK but has the government issued new and more restrictive guidelines ... I doubt that, these days. And I can't imagine the Soaps agreeing on anything. Thanks for your reply ... at times I thought I must be the only one noticing what appeared to be happening, thought I might be going nuts as no-one else seemed to be commenting on this aspect of gay story-lines. Perhaps it's the same for all the love relationships these days? P.S. Hollyoaks was 'electric' (and eccentric) for a while but I gave up on watching it when Brendan left ... is it worth watching? Are there any playlists of gay Hollyoaks story-lines?

He caught Nicky's load in the eye

Suni was in another argument with Amit about being forced to keep quiet about Rishi's death. Suni was holding a champagne bottle and was frustrated and slammed the bottle down. The cork popped from Suni's force and hit him in the eye.

Let’s be honest. This is a problem with all UK soaps to be honest. It’s a problem with Ballum in EE and it’s also a problem with Corrie too (Exception of Billy who’s paired with straight actors playing gay characters). Him and Paul used to be affection but that was toned down later on. Likewise when he was with Todd. Ben and Callum also had passion in their early days but that toned down quickly too. All straight actors (with the exception of Billy and Sean who’s reduced to a comedic character). There was also Marcus and Todd in Corrie but that didn’t last for long. The only exception as a whole would be Hollyoaks (although there hasn’t been much action lately aside from some small moments with James and Ste). Difference is the straight actors playing LGBT characters in Hollyoaks definitely commit to their roles better with Brendan Brady being a good example of that back in the day. Marcus and Ethan also showed potential in their first hook up and that was toned down quickly to the point where they were no longer affectionate. Same thing is happening to Suni and Nicky right now. Great potential with their first hook up but lack of affection soon afterwards. It’s especially noticeable when you compare these to previous relationships with characters who had chemistry together like Chyred from EE or Robron from Emmerdale and even McDean/Kieron and JP from Hollyoaks. Or even Stendan (despite it being toxic).
