As per BUPERSINST 1430.16F, the Time in Rate required from E1 to E2 is 9 months, then E2 to E3 is 9 months. E3 to E4 is 6 months, then from E5 to E9 is 36 months.

It also gets easier around the transition from E-3 to E-4 because you start losing the people who just don't care and never put in their best and ant out so you don't have to compete against them. It's probably the only point where this weeding happens. What do you think...was that your experience/observation as well.

hey nicky I am a Jrotc cadet planning on going in the recruiter I have said if I pushed hard i could have e6 in a few years. Also I am still researching jobs as at the moment. I have a few picked out a few communication and Intel most of them are ship based from what the Navy websites have showed me from the ship to shore rotations. So a lot of time tied down to a woman lol.

I was an “AT” in the Advanced Electronics program and got my “Push-Button” E4 right out of A-School and made E-5 with 2.5 years in but some made it with less time but that has more to do with timing, how quickly you get to your first command and get an eval that actually makes you “promotable” (other than training commands where you are mostly “non-observed”). This made it theoretically possible to make E-6 before the end of your six year enlistment and I was first eligible at year five but didn’t make it. Took four more exam cycles and I made E-6 in 7 years which was still early but not much faster than those who started out as E1 on a standard four year contract. Actually looking back now, the advanced training really wasn’t worth it - too much information crammed into too little time, seemed more of a gimmick plus I went to a squadron where I couldn’t really put all that electronics training to good use. If you are going to stay in and make it a career, you will always be thought of as a “push-button” or “Rent-a-Crow” who didn’t actually “earn” their Crow like they did. If you get out after your 6-year enlistment, people that hire you won’t think you have “real” electronics training and will pass you over for anyone with an associate degree.
@cheapshot72442 ай бұрын
I know this is an old video but just curious. You said u get 2 points for associates and 4 points for bachelor's. So if you had like 110 college credits but didn't finish your degree before the eval would you get 0 points for education until that bachelor's is complete ?
@NICKYMGTV2 ай бұрын
Correct. You have to have the degree with a certificate to get the points.

Nicky...I am 36 looking at the reserves. Have a 2 year degree and just finished my Bachelor's. Recruiter has been very helpful and open (from what I can tell) I asked about going in as an officer since I have my degree and many years as a leader in business. He said the officer recruiter told him they are only looking for candidates with degrees with technical (STEM) rather than a business degree. Side note; I got a 97 on the practice ASVAB he gave me. Does it make sense that the officer recruiter wouldn't be interested in a Business degree?
@saucyahh6707 Жыл бұрын
i thought the requirements were based on credit hours. My recruiter mentioned applying for officer while active duty. He did also mention that the requirements were a 3.5+ GPA, mostly 4.0 is ideal.

not likely on the degree. too busy with deployments, and work that it's tough. Extra duties are just after you know your job you take on other tasks. Your boss or leadership will tell everyone about different opportunities.

The issue with this is information is lost during translation. Many services offer this already actually for a subscription fee. What you find is since the test is based on a curve then you will score middle of the pact by using the same resource to study as most do that think they are getting a "faster" way
