I swear this song is editing itself in between listens. Takes so much focus it's never the same beast. This is the kind of track that breaks opinions of what you thought you were into. Unbelievable.

Very aware of his existence but don't know where to begin if I were to really explore his discography. Suggestions? I love Nanou 2, is there anything else with piano/silence like that?

Well he likes to put these piano songs here and there to confuse everybody. Avril 14th is another one, a very very complicated piano song indeed. His style is ever-changing, as a first-impression package I'd suggest the following tracks: Lichen, Rhubarb, Milkman, Xtal, Come to Daddy, Fenix Funk 5, Ageispolis, Phonatacid, XMD5a, Produk 29. That should give you a good perspective of his various works, but if you're especially into ambient, he has a set of records called "Selected Ambient Works"

Wonderful. I appreciate the detailed response! Will have to get to work on those later today, have only listened to two of them. I am in a place in life where ambient is very welcome, so that should be a good place to begin with something complete. Thanks a bunch!

I strongly feel that this is the kind of output that makes Jaar very unpredictable but still enjoyable on many levels. Kind of relieved that he broke the 'gloom' after Nymphs II and III. This just made my day!! :) Edit : Not to mention 'Pomegranates' too

+Michael McCrary Most probably software synths. An example - Omnisphere has a library of around 60gb of sampled sounds including a burning piano and the sound of a lightbulb.
