I really love the idea how they replace old conventional fire alarm systems with modern adderssable fire alarm system. In the United Kingdom, they use call points instead of pull stations

Awesome video! Also (At 5:53) that has to be the oldest and coolest heat detector I've seen so far in this system upgrade. I assume this one got thrown out with the other heats, but it's cool none the less.

Yeah I don't blame you about that 14 ft ladder. I can tell it looked janky even before you were on it. Honestly you were playing a game of 50/50, because there was an even chance it would stay stable but yet it could fall and we don't want that happening. (Especially at a school.)

49:07 I HATED the portables in my elementary school because they had Simplex conventional TrueAlert horn strobes (which have no volume adjustment and are always on high volume) on continuous. It was a portable with four classrooms and a hallway connecting all of them. When they first got it, I saw that they had System Sensor horn strobes (one in the hallway and one in each of the four classrooms) but I was hoping that they would just replace them with remote strobes in the classrooms. I’m glad you are setting them to low volume so those kids don’t have to go through the same pain.

Augh, continuous? Like come on, they’re fire alarms, they could’ve at least used code 3

Well done Nic, or to put it another way “you have a knack when it comes to installing many a well organized NAC Nic” Can’t wait to hopefully purchase a bell, pull and heat in the not too distant future. Also Nic whatever you do be sure and keep that silver metal heat detector from early on as those are extremely rare now. I think I now know why Edwards discontinued them early on; supposedly due to their aluminum body they were much more prone to falseing in certain situations (such as steam) so plastic was the preferred material thereafter. Finally be sure to save one of those original Edwards EOL plates from back in the day; love those super cool looking resistance symbols they would cast on them. Nice asbestos suit Jamie; must have been tricky mounting those new heats up there. Excellent job guys.

I have just watched this on KZfaq after watching Part one. First off, these videos are a little long so I had to watch this on 1.25 & 1.50x speed and at normal speed. Sorry about that. Second, as far back as I can remember, in my Junior or Senior year in High School and attending Sno- Isle program, which BTW is another High School, I remember when they had to replace the old Fire alarm system and the Fire alarm Control panel in the Main Office. The Fire alarms were old, about 25 years & were replaced by EST Genesis horn/strobes in the class rooms and the Intergrity horn/ strobes on the outside and 2 in the Greenhouse & the Portable they had. They also had a Wheelock AS horn/straps in the Cafeteria andsome Heat and smoke detectors in the classrooms as well. Thirdly, I do agree with you about the 14 foot ladder and I also agree that older buildings that were built in the 50s, 60s and 1970s didn't have any codes or any Fire codes & they weren't enforced or not in placed. In my opinion, it's as if the contractors didn't care about the safety and the well-being of the occupants in a certain building or the location or sound level of the older Bells or Horn/ Strobes or they simply didn't have the money to fix the problem or "troubles". Aside from that, I still like the bells, it's sad that some of them aren't being used anymore, (well not those 11 or 12 inch bells), and being replaced by horn/strobes or even speaker strobes which they're okay 🙂👍😊.

Is it not a problem to keep the system down for work if the building is unoccupied, or did they have to have people doing fire watch overnight?
@nics-systems-electric

Usually depends on what the building management wants to do with it since it's unoccupied so there isn't a life safety concern usually if they do want firewatch they will have a security guard come around every hour
