私は、沖縄出身ではないけれど、この歌は、子守歌のように心地よく響いてきます。 琉球民謡の一つとして、たくさんの有名な歌手が歌っていますが、夏川りみさんも素晴らしいです。すこし変わった手ぶりが、手話を交えながら歌っているとわかります。すべての人に伝えたい歌ですね。

Enka is popular music established in the Showa period(1926-1989), not traditional music. The traditional Japanese folk song is called Min-yo. Okinawan music is derived from the traditional music of the Ryukyu Kingdom(1429-1879), and its singing method is different from Japanese traditional music. Japanese and Okinawan music share the same pentatonic scale.
