Hey Guys!! That’s right Nifty Tools are back!!!
Today we are diving into a few tools that I’ve been testing out for a while now. Yes, I know they aren’t the cheapest tools, but good shop tools rarely are.🤷‍♂️
*Disclaimer - the Rattlesnake kit from Dyme Psi and the Topdon Artidiag 800BT were sent to me for free for product testing. There were no deals made for certain opinions and certainly not under the precontext of a guaranteed “good” review. These reviews are of my own personal testing and opinions.

Mastercool kit is amazing. A little bit of finesse to setup/hold, but simple, fast, and perfect flares every time. It's also nice to be able to do push connect (fuel line) and GM transmission fittings. The small diameter also makes it easier to use it with a line already on the vehicle. I believe a tool truck brand sells/rebrands this kit as well. The addition of the depth setting arm probably makes it way easier to use. I have the original model that doesn't have that, so it takes more messing around to get it all lined up properly.

I could see where that’d take some getting used to but this updated kit or brand kit has been pretty fool proof. Only thing it needs is a big orange sticker that says “did you put the line nut on BEFORE you start your flare?” 😂

I'm so glad Nifty Tools is back. I really like that scan tool, I will definitely be looking into that. And I have the Mastercool flaring kit, rebranded by MacTools. It has saved by butt so many times, especially on fuel lines, worth every penny. Thanks for showing us the goodies! 👍👍

Since you're back at the dealer again, what tool box are you working out of now?

Great information! Does the scan tool allow you to get into the BCM like on a 2005 GM truck to make changes like a Tech2?

Did not test that specifically but I do know it was able to do tests on an 04 Cadillac park assist module even

Yeah those rattlesnake kits aren’t the cheapest but if you are a professional shop making custom lines all the time, you can’t beat it.

@@RustbeltMechanic They'd definitely be handy. If I had a custom shop where I had to plumb cars up or out in the field on heavy equipment it would be well worth it. I'm in the industrial factory maintenance and we have everything on site to make up hoses.

Would you be interested in posting content about using common tools to solve jobs that normally require specialized equipment? Gives the DIYers of us an alternative to tooling up with stuff that we won’t use too much.

@@RustbeltMechanic I'm just firing off the cuff here so please forgive my ignorance, i'm only speaking from my own experiences and items i've struggled with... for the DIYer... 1) A way to vacuum bleed brakes without spending $100s on a decent vacuum kit? I've tried the hand pump ones and they're horrible in my experience and its hard to justify spending big money when you only use it 1 or twice every 2 or 3 years 2) I've struggled immensely with cheap blind hole bearing pullers, is there another way? 3) Smoke pump system for testing for vacuum leaks? 4) Is there a way to press out rubber suspension bushings and/or lower ball joints? i thought about sockets, ready rod and nuts etc? Again, for one time use, seems like there has to be another way even if it takes longer? These are just the ones off the top of my head. Long time ago my uncle (passed away now but was a Master HD Mechanic with his own shop for over 40 years) told me that the difference between a technician and a true mechanic is that the mechanic solves a problem that ISN'T "by the book". This is one thing i've always found extremely interesting is exploring the experience of how someone solves these challenges when he doesn't have the specialized tool or solves an issue that isn't "standard". One idea i picked up that was totally awesome for how simple it was.. put paper towel between the fastener and the socket you're trying to attach it with, insert the nut or bolt into the socket with the paper towel there and then the fastener won't fall out when you reach out to install it with the socket! So, yes... pro tools alternatives and also tips! :) Hope i haven't wasted your time LOL
