I went thru this with my daughter she is 14 she got to the point were she would disrespect me on the daily my daughter even wanted me on child support when I took care of her with no excuses.i got to the point like look your way not working call me when you can treat me like a person well her mom was behind all of this and encouraged her to verbally attack me I never disrespect them I simply stop answering my phone then I was getting very nasty text messages i was hurt but ignored them I have three other kids I focus on I'm a single dad of one so I'm pretty busy and still positive I do think about my daughter but there is no communication.

Sadly, my baby brother has this same mentality. He, like 50, believes that materialism makes up for those missed moments with your child.
