@yellowbones well, the album they released right after that one was super popular. Tons of good songs on there. They've had other good songs as well. Also, doubt they'd be around as long as they have if they only had 3 good albums.

popular =/= good. Light Grenades was "good" but the comment's point was that had they explored their S.C.I.E.N.C.E. (and maybe Make Yourself for that matter) which had more experimentation, more complex and technical writing, and a bit darker, it would be just like this song. The argument is not that they suck, even though their last 4 releases (2 LPs and 2 EPs) were not good, the argument is that this song sounds like a S.C.I.E.N.C.E. album

Brandon Boyd is one of those easily recognizable vocalists. Such a unique style. His work with Incubus has been superb, but unfortunately much of his solo releases have been flops. Not because his singing was bad-just ‘misplaced’. I think his vocal style is just too experimental for the basic acoustic/indie music he’s been releasing. What his vocal style is perfect for however is the prog realm. This collab was like the peanut butter finding the jelly. #progboyd2024

2:02 Listen, I'm still a die-hard Incubus fan, even if "INNTW" and "8" weren't... stellar *ba-dum-tsss* But I so miss getting THIS feeling from Brandon and Incubus as a whole. Moments that I have to repeat time and time again until my body knows how to properly process it. I love them, and I love that they do what they want, but it is a small desire of mine to feel again.

Similarity of >> "Roulette Dares By The Mars Volta". 🌌🎶 I knew I wasn't dreaming when I heard this one, because I was visualizing where I heard that humming melody on "Hurts Hurt Less The Light".. from and this sounds just like "Roulette Dares by The Mars Volta", which is amazing having now two amazing songs to live to. If you haven't heard "Roulette Dares By The Mars Volta" before, man you gotta'.. please check it out on their live version or the original song and you'll understand what I mean, because the humming and rhythm is almost the same and just awesome that humming by Brandon and the bands instruments of humming reminded me of "Roulette Dares By The Mars Volta". Hot take but until this track came out I was convinced NV could only work as an instrumental band since Doug (to me) was such a mediocre core vocalist and left such a mid first impression it kept me from listening to FTGoS for years; I'm realizing now it's more because they have far better composition when not having to write around lyrics and a feature has far less pull in overall songwriting than a lead member

The intro which I guess is also the verse sounds epic with Brandon. It’s “make yourself” if it came out today on steroids. The rest of the song is good but a little draggy for me but that’s only because I’m more of a structure intro verse chorus verse chorus bridge outro type of guy and this is more of a Freeform almost long type of jam. I also would have liked to hear more guitar. Still very good though. All I know is that the intro alone really makes me miss old incubus. It was so refreshing and different and had Brandon’s name all over it

This is really great, and Brandon is on-point here. Incubus will forever be held as one of my all-time fav bands, but I’ve not been as taken by their newer stuff compared to pre-8 efforts. Solid work here 🤘🏻
