I'm pretty sure in the lore she wields the true calibur sword to defeat soul calibur (nightmare) but I'm not 100% sure I don't like the story mode I just read the lore online Haha. That's why nightmare has specific quotes when fighting her.

Unfortunately they nerfed Nightmares move sets in this game. In Soul Calibur 4 and 5 he had much more options for high and low attacks. But somehow Siegfried didn’t get the same treatment.

You forgot some tbh. While I’m SC/TC if you are in chief hold, you get counter hit A into side stance then do A+B. Does mad damage. You also get lethal hit A+B into chief hold then hit again with B then BB right away.

How do I do the thing where you repulse people off of you? I can't figure it out. It says to do forward with either a or b while performing, but I can't figure it out on how to exactly do it.

@@ZER0SC Really? I've tried to use both of those moves with nightmare before but they don't get me much luck. I wind up using B or 4BB as attacks or just parry people. Other than that, I just feel like Nightmare has no quick moves to compete with the faster characters. I just feel that Nightmare is unnecessarily slow in this game compared to what he used to be. (To what I am used to anyway). I just struggle with Nightmare that is all. I can take games off of B Rank players if they are someone like Ivy, but struggle against G Rank Maxi's , Lol. it's quite the conondrum for sure. Lol. But it's alright. I can just play quicker characters in that case. :/

Is it just me or is the 2A+B not connecting for anyone else on the combo at 3:03 ? If they ukemi it does not connect for me unless my timing is off

Ok so what I found is that if they do not ukemi then it connects. If they ukemi forward then it connects AND you get the soul charge animation with 2A+B. If they ukemi back or left then it connects normally. Strangely, if they ukemi right then it misses. BUT you can use 1A instead of 2A+B to get a lethal hit from this situation if they try to ukemi in any direction

I might be a little late but they definitely changed nightmare since the release of this video, some combos don’t work anymore and some have slight changes, for the first combo you hold the first B for a second, then immediately release and press B again, followed by an immediate B+A, that second part should be very quick

Can anyone explain the notation for me please? What does the A~GA mean in this, and also the capitalization? 236 B, a~gA What do the square brackets mean in 3[B], A+B. And what does the round brackets mean in TC/SC 6[6]A, (GS) KK I think that covers it all, once I understand those I should be able to grasp the rest.

The numbers represent the directional input so imagine a number pad on a keyboard it should all make sense now 5 being neutral 6 being forward Always starting from player 1 side

in training mode, go to the menu, hit go to the second page, there ill be options to change training settings. You can set the game to always give you a counter hit to practice counterhit combos

Numbers are the directions for 8 way run, look at your numpad on keyboard. Buttons are self explanatory and W! Is wallsplat it seems

GA are the buttons G and A.. (GS) is the stance you're in, check the movelist

GS is Grim Stride, often also called Grim Step colloquially. Input 236 or QCF, he does a crouch dash forward.

@@derkthevert1866 Visualize the numpad from a computer keyboard; each number corresponds to the directional input relative to the 5 (neutral) on the numpad. So 6 is forward, 4 is back, 1 is down/back, etc. A, B, K and G refer to the in-game inputs for horizontal, vertical, kick attacks and guard, respectively. Why "A" and "B" are used instead of "H" and "V" is a mystery lost to time. I'm not a fan of the notation, but learning enough to get by with isn't that hard (what I told you covers 90% of the notation that isn't self-explanatory) and learning it is certainly less annoying than dealing with irate tryhards and their gatekeeping. The game has a quick-stand option, tagged as "Ukemi" in-game but commonly known as "Teching." Basically you can quickly stand up either in place, while moving slightly back or to the side. A "tech trap" is an attack that can score extra hits against an opponent who tries to tech in the wrong direction. The opponent thinks they need to tech to avoid extra damage on the ground, but if they don't tech correctly they fall into the "trap" and take extra damage -- sometimes damage they wouldn't have taken if they didn't try to tech in the first place.

@@somethingsomething9006 People do complain about nightmare in literally every SC game cuz he shits all over noobs but his gauge moves seem a little ridiculous even at higher level play atm. I'm hoping that if they do choose to target him, they'll only nerf the damage on the drill attack (right now, if it connects, it takes out about a 1/3 of an HP bar).

@@anaskaadan7846 Honestly, the drill attack can be avoided if you tap up or down since the hitbox on the drill is pitifully small, the slow startup also doesn't help. He's meant to whiff punish, so you shouldn't be throwing out moves at Nightmare so carelessly anyway. If I had to nerf something about it, I'd slightly decrease the block damage it does.

Not really, i've been playing fighting games (Karate Champ) since the commodore 64 was the closest thing to a PC that existed. Soul Calibur is the only fighting game worth a shit that has ever used (forced) this retarded notation. Not are you wrong about "most" fighting games using it, it's actually a tiny percentage of games that use it. Nice try though.

It doesn't matter what most games use. The Soul Calibur community decided on a notation that works for them. You can use whatever notation you want but expect people who are part of the SC community that are making videos to use what is best for their community.
