As I understand it (p/Judge Judy), an engagement ring is absolutely a contract for marriage. If either party breaks that contract at any point before the wedding or before marriage happens, the engagement ring absolutely goes back to the original "owner/buyer".

That first girl is cruel and pathetic! She had everyone laughing over heartbreaking situations! She approached Dr. Phil’s questions in a nieve , and innocent manner. She whipped up laughter out of situations that were painful for her victims! She should have been made to give every ring back, and pay for any expenses that the victims incurred! This should include the cost of therapy that will be needed for their next relationships to succeed!

I agree completely. I also think Dr. Phil was too light on her. He allowed her to play this sweetie role, when she had hurt so many people. The five men were hurt, as well as the men’s families and anyone who cared about them. She said, fix me, like it was a challenge. If she has remorse, she did not show it here. The way that third couple talk about mental health medication is gross. He acts like it's somehow disgusting to take medication for bi-polar or anxiety, and she responds with horror at the claim that she might take it. Not that she deserves to have her medical privacy violated on TV, but come on, people. There is absolutely nothing wrong with getting help.

The girl from the second couple looks unhappy even though they're holding hands. And it's only going to get worse. It wouldn't surprise me if she was going to have a baby and he told her have it at home cuz it's free don't go to the hospital. He's going to control and dominate her all her life unless they get counseling. He is very selfish with his suggestions for the wedding and not regarding any of her choices. Yes maybe the mother can make her address but does he think that material is free. Yes the family might be able to do the food but does he think the food is going to be free. I've been to weddings where families have done the food and even helped and the people that do that don't even get to enjoy the wedding. I understand he doesn't want to get into debt but he could give her a little bit on some of that

The second dude (horrible groom guy) is probably be a jerk but I agree with him in the fact that weddings don’t have to cost a fortune. My wedding dress was made for me, my parents did the flowers, I had a friend do the wedding pictures, etc. Including the rings, it cost less than $2000 and we have been married 27 years.

I wouldn't have married my husband if we'd had these issues. Instead, we fell in love and mostly stayed in love for 45 years. I made my own wedding dress. It was just a given that I'd do that because we had very little money. I was barely 18, and he was 19. He passed 7 years ago. Damn!
