This actually sounds somewhat interesting. the Freddy being innocent and the parents being the villains angle could've worked. so him returning as a vengeful spirit to claim the souls of his murderer's kids(elm street children) is more justifiable. But, Freddy Krueger is what he is and we still got some good flicks out of it(key word some!).

What becomes wild about this idea is that Freddie probably remains innocent And the parents projecting their own fears onto the children (the dream demon) is what is actually killing the children.

I think if a remake was to come to fruition again it would make logical sense to have Johnny Depp as Krueger- he is 1" smaller and has a versatile acting range, he has the correct body type and it would be a perfect homage to his acting roots.

That sounds like an awful idea. Not discrediting them as directors, they are really fucking good. For their own projects. Those sorts of directors don't do mainstream because it does not work. Look what happened with IT chapter 2. Look what happened with Mike Flanagan and doctor sleep, now doctor sleep was good, but it was miles before anything else he's done, when he was a small director. Now I am going to assume you wrote this comment to show people that you are smart and that you like directors who have two movies under their belt. Both of which are very niche btw. Doesn't take a genius to break down why both of those people would be awful for a nightmare on elm Street.

A Nightmare on Elm Street prequel could be a cool idea. This script isn't perfect, but it's got some good qualities. Remember, a lot happens to a script between when it is written and when the final film is shot, so maybe some of the weaker elements like the cult could have been edited out.

If he's a child therapist, it would make better sense if the teenage cult were all patients of Krueger and he'd used that time to indoctrinate them. Perhaps he put them in a sleeping trance during their sessions and gained a hypnotic power over them.

Saxon had some good stuff there, a great foundation. But I don't like that Freddy was totally innocent in the prequel. I've heard that theory before, but it totally ignores stuff like that line in FvJ where Freddy says "When I was alive, I might have been a little naughty..." This would completely rewrite his backstory. I'd have him guilty of crimes he's not being blamed for. Kids that the parents don't know about. Also, what if Freddy is Nancy's biological dad? I like that wrinkle that puts a whole new spin on things. Plus, he could also be a reason for Don's divorce with or without his knowledge. That explains why Marge has Freddy's glove in 1.

I could see this working with a little tweaking, make the cult a dream cult instead of a Manson cult that is misguided, trying to bring a dream world to reality, Freddy is Krueger's alternate personality that is suppressed until the cult appears (and the cult appears early in the film), killer Freddy seduces therapist Fred to let him be dominated during the fire by saying he can save both of them. You still get your explanation of the glove, the dream sequences, the murders, a reasonable explanation for Freddy's dream powers, and a possible sequel in which the two sides of Freddy have a battle.

I think a Nightmare prequel done in the style of Silence of The Lambs or Seven could be brilliant. It could work really well as a crime thriller with horror elements... I'm not a fan of Freddy being a child therapist. That just doesn't feel right to me. However, I also never liked the idea of Freddy having a wife and kid as he did in Freddy's Dead neither. I honestly thought the remake idea of him being a caretaker at a preschool fit quite well, so I would just go with that. I also feel that Freddy eventually returning in dreams could be easily explained. It would be something quite simple. Freddy gets his kicks peaking in though the window at the children during their nap time. He gets off on it. I don't think there's any way around not making Freddy a pervert so I would just embrace it... Wes Craven originally intended him to be a pervert anyways, and that kind of shit is so disturbing. I would really want to take Freddy as far away as I could from the joke cracking anti-hero that he eventually turned into. I want him to be a disgusting bastard that makes the audience uncomfortable.

Saxon's manuscript sounds like a great first draft to a potentially great movie. Remove the cult (or maybe make it a red herring as was the case in the 80s when the satanic panic) and just make Freddy Krugger a serial killer with a split personality (Please watch the documentary "Crazy, not insane" about forensic psychiatrist Dorothy Otnow Lewis on how Ted Bund, for example, was actually innocent, while Sam, his other personality committed all the crimes). Parents will kill both Freddy Krugger the decent therapist, and his other personality (born out of childhood abuse) Krugger the pedophile killer, without understanding his real condition. He dies, but his killer persona bows revenge from beyond the grave... This ties to the themes of how parents fail and neglect their children in a neverending cycle of abuse. Great episode!!! Thanx!!!

I believe that Freddy Kruger is the scariest horror movie monster ever created. Because he is a physical manifestation of inescapability. You can try to force yourself to stay awake as much as you want. But at some point, you *are* going to fall asleep. And when you do, he's gonna be there.

The dream people being a bad scene isn't bad because we were given an explanation. It was bad because it's not a satisfactory explanation. They either should have left it a mystery, or explained it more deeply in a less ridiculous/cartoony fashion. Like, who are the dream people really? Why did they endow Freddy with all these powers? What is their end goal? Most of this is actually explained in comics. But you'd think that Freddy would at least be a little bit surprised by the existence of dream demons when they appear to him right before his death. When he talks to them it's like he was expecting them, or already had some kind of rapport with them. If that's the case, then a prequel showing how he met them would have been nice, explaining their motivations, etc. When he died, did they take him somewhere and explain things to him or did he just wake up in some alternate dimension? All of these things would be interesting to explore.

I love this take on the origin! They should bring it back and use it. Change the title to: Springwood Slasher. Since it ends up being one killer in the end, that would work as a fake out. Due to the LSD stuff happening, we'd be wondering if he really is murdering the kids, or is it just a mass delusion or something. I'd love to see Ben Foster take on the primary role, as he's so good at being a creeper. That would be even better when it's revealed that he was never the monster to begin with. The only hiccup with this scenario of him being innocent and loving these children is that it doesn't make much sense that he'd return from the grave, in a sense, to kill other kids, just for revenge against the conspirators of his demise. Anyway, it's the best treatment for a prequel that I've heard as of yet.

I would love to see the origin of how Freddy gets his dream powers, it’s been something I’ve always wondered about since I first saw the original and the way it was shown on Freddy’s Dead was total garbage. I also really like the idea of Freddy being an innocent victim of mistaken identity or a victim of circumstance. I also saw an interesting idea on a fan fiction I read a long time ago where Katherine (Freddy’s daughter) was actually a special needs child who was bullied mercilessly and one day, the bullying goes too far and she is accidentally killed, but the killing is ruled accidental in court, allowing the kids to go free, then the mother becomes so grief stricken that she commits suicide. As a result, Freddy is so distraught and angry that he becomes completely deranged and decides to take justice into his own hands in his own sick and twisted way.

I think the backstory they gave us in the original franchise is perfect! Don't mess with perfection. They had a perfect balance of dreams and backstory for Freddy. In the first film we find out how he was a child killer and was let go by the courts and then burned alive by the parents. In the 3rd one we find out that he is the bastard son of a hundred maniacs and in part 6 we see flashbacks to his childhood, wife and daughter. Also I never liked when they try to make him not a child killer or is wrongly accused by the parents. The original franchise had it right, he came from maniacs and grew up to be a maniac.

Everything could work up until the cult. I would modify the cult idea and keep the idea of the therapist but as another character. What if the therapist is apart of a secret cult and that sacrifices children and some type of way Freddy is slowly becoming a part of the cult. One Freddy’s first mild attempt of kidnapping the therapist and cults members also apart of the police use Freddy as a fall guy. Marge could be apart of the cult as well and could explain the death of Betsy and Freddy’s vengeance towards her at the end of part 1.

Overall, not a bad idea for a prequel. Needs a second or third draft with the help of a more experienced screenwriter, get the continuity straightened out, and make it more ambiguous as to who the killer or killers were. What's crazy is I've written alot.. and it's a nightmare on elm Street prequel. I too think Freddie beeing a therapist and innocent is the perfect way.. to revive the franchise with today's current problems of people in power abusing their role (sheffif), mixed with assumptions and blindness that fills today society that leads to Fred's death. His childhood remains majority of the same but instead he's a mis understood child who was adopted by a young couple called "kruegers" they end up in a accident that leaves Freddie slightly brain damaged as he sometimes struggles to sleep for days on end leading to hallucinations and therefore creating his character to be wierd from outsiders. His birth mum was raped by 66 maniacs not 1,000 and he has a birthmark that resembles the number 6. Freddies birth mothers last name is CRAVEN and her father is the priest "Father craven". To keep his name with honour after the birth of Freddie he instantly puts him into care. As Freddie grows up the stories stigmatise him to be the wierdo and freak... I can continue but.... ill finish it first

Why do we need prequels for a series like this? We get told so much throughout the series about the past, we don’t need to see it, surely trying to make a horror franchise that reaches the popularity of NOES rather than bashing this piñata even though all the candy has already fallen outside better. I know that, that which makes money will always make money, but I just don’t know why we need to see more from this universe when we could be watching something equally as groundbreaking as NOES was.

Other than the cult thing, I buy it. I would say it would be better to go with a perpetrator who has a similar build and features to Fred. He attacks in the dark. So, it's hard to get an accurate description. He's charged, and the case gets thrown out due to lack of evidence or something. Then, it still kind of goes along with the explanation Marge gives in the original. Actually, it's a better explanation, in my opinion. Anyway, the parents get angry, torch him and his place and create a vengeance demon. 🤷 Seems logical to me.

Interesting. But maybe, I don't know. Skip the cult. Make him more sinister underneath, like you don't know he really did it until the end and the parents don't either or don't care. Or... We know he's doing it the entire time but no one knows until the end when it's too late.

Sounds like some alternate reality Marvel Ultimate Comics. And not in the good way. We already fan web series about Freddy's past on KZfaq. I think it much better. No need to turn Krueger into doctor Dekker from Nightbreed!

Freddy's Dead is a bad movie but I always liked the flashback sequences which we kind of a prequel.

I'd like to see an animated Elm St franchise. With each film sporting a different style animation, western 2D, kids cartoon 2D, anime 2D, cgi&anime hybrid and full cgi anime to start a better told story arch. The animation styles themselves are open to different styles to tell their connecting stories and more importantly, they will consistency in the details of the story with character archs.

I want to see a Freddy vs Jason 2. With Hodder reprising his role as Jason. Freddy vs Jason was a good flick, don't get me wrong, but I felt we were gipped not seeing Englund and Hodder go head to head. Plus, Englund had stated he would love to play Freddy one last time. But one can only dream

I just wanted to say I love this channel for alot of reasons, will remove a channel I have fell out of love with to sub to this sorry I can't support monetarily but the economy and such stay hungry and focused I want this channel to grow but not turn into financial capitalists with no self awareness like alot with clickbaits and any pub is good pub there's a such thing as legacy still even when the world is backwards it's less focused on because that gives it power or resistance vs the engineering, I want you to represent that and become that so that can be one of the few channels as good role models for future generations not the opposite of which we see that has become humanity. Thank you

Not having anything that was established about Freddy's origins from the first movie and Dream Warriors doesn't make sense for a prequel to ANOES. Best way to start it would be with his Mother being trapped in the insane asylum, where she was raped hundreds of times until she is found pregnant with Fred, go to his birth, show him growing up and exploring his violet nature until he's mature enough to go off on his own. Then focus on him becoming the Springwood Slasher, bumping off the kids one by one until he's caught, tried, then released on the technicality that Marge told Nancy in the first movie, the parents go on the manhunt for Fred, he tries to elude the parents, kill off a couple of them, until they capture him and kill him with their vigilante fire. There's your film. Not hard to do and no stupidity.
