Dynamic lights are simulated using an additive lighting pass on the base shading, ignoring the color ramp. To help sell the aesthetic, the light position and intensity is wiggled at a very low framerate, and the lighting level is quantized to a preset number of levels, to provide the intentional banding effect typical in limited-palette pixel art.
