About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6). She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot. Plus, huge vocal nerd 😉. Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg, where she graduated in 2003. She studied musical theatre and a year of opera. Welcome back to symphonic metal, and welcome to Nightwish. From Finland, they've been around since '96. 3rd and current lead singer , Floor Jansen, is Dutch. She had been with the band only 10 months at this concert, having taken over mid tour. Keyboardist Tuomas Holpainen is the mastermind, writing and composing 90-95% of the music. Emppu Vuorinen on guitar is a founding member as well. Jukka Nevalainen on drums from '97-2014. Marko Hietala on bass from '01-'21, since you asked, he plays Warwick basses. The band's 10th studio album will be released later this year. You're right, those pipes are just decor, in front of 3 Korg keyboards (and a wine bottle holder, lol). They are a tribute to Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, and made to resemble the Sibelius monument in Helsinki. Also correct about Wacken being in Germany, and pronounced (Vah-ken). This song was #13 in a 15 song headlining set (Alice Cooper was on stage just before them). All of them are great. Dave will be listening to more Nightwish, Hope you will be too. 😺. Great Festival i was at this concert in 2013 being an American i never heard of Nightwish ! We were in the middle of the crowd because Alice Cooper played before Nightwish ! Deep Purple and Ramstein played on day one which was a treat =) "Storytime" was my favorite Nightwish song !

Fortunately, our leader, Gabriel has made contact so he will guide you on your journey. So, from this 68 year old retired Brit, all I can say is strap yourselves in and enjoy the ride..... which is, Nightwish!

One thing I really love about Nightwish is that it is all about the music; the band members serve the music not their egos. Therefore they walk around when they have nothing to do or sometimes even leave the stage but when their part starts they give 100 %. Each of them is an outstanding artist with great skills but does not pose; when someone has a solo all other members step back and let him/her shine. Watch "The Islander" from the Tampere concert 2015; there Marko stands in front of the stage and plays his guitar; the other band members stayed in the background the whole time and started supporting him in the middle of the song. Floor gives the back vocals for Marko and you can see that all of them are very happy to let Marko shine. He is a great singer, too.

Amy Lee is a good singer but Floor is in a class of her own - the sustain from her extraordinary next-level breath control is matched by the beautiful tone of her voice and ability to wrench every last drop of emotion from any song's meaning.

When you want to go further on the path of our 1.83m (6ft.+) tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen besides Nightwish, here is some background information on the best and most versitale female singer of our time. Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Here are some of my favourites: ‘Energize me’; Monolith of Doubt’ and Dreamflight’. Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera). 'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song from full operatic to death growls in seconds. Here are some examples: ‘Misery’s no Crime’, ‘Wild card’ and ‘Disdain’. Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: ‘Please learn the setlist in 48 hours’ Floor joined Nightwish after this iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died is a must see. Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on KZfaq. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa’ and to see her in full opera mode, watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered KZfaq in these years. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing Ghost Love Score at Wacken. I have all Nightwish albums since 1996 and waiting for their 10th studio album this year. I was at their live concert here in Finland, Vaasa city, last June and I tell you...if you ever have a chance seeing them live go! The true master mind of Nightwish is our metal Mozart, our national treasure..Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards). He writes and composes this beautiful music. And I love Jukka's drumming, his style 🥁😎but unfortunately he played until 2015 and had to ask his friend Kai Hahto to continue because Jukka had severe imsomnia and migraine. But I always mention Jukka about drumming, how good he is and with that style. He and drums are one. He clearly enjoys playing those drums 😊Next time when I go seeing Nightwish live I want to meet Tuomas and ask him two questions and comment, concerning music of course. I don't reveal those until I meet him.

Hello Belle and Fynn and from me also a warm welcome to Nightwish! A lot has already been said about this phenomenal band so I like to give you a piece of info from behind the scenes. The pipes around the keyboards are a tribute to the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, as NW is Finnish as you discovered, and resemble his monument in Helsinki, 600 pipes welded together in a flowing way. Nice gesture isn't it? Floor Jansen is married to Hannes van Dahl, drummer of the Swedish band Sabaton. This band is unique in it's kind. Their songs are all about real wartime events through the ages. They do a lot of research for their songs and have their own Sabaton History Channel on YT with a lot of info about their songs. It's very interesting! "No Bullets Fly", the Animated! story/video is a great example. And a tip: If you stop a video use the spacebar and then the left arrow on your keyboard to back the video 5 secs, two taps 10 secs, to let the song flow more. I'm being diplomatic and choose Marco he is the bass player here in 2013 now sadly not with the band. Lifechanging musically, finding Nightwish. 120+songs since 1996, and they do everything from folk, acoustic right through to thrash metal and at an insanely good level. The composer Tuomas on the keys is a genius, known as the Metal Mozart... but you'll see. Floor the singer can go from death metal growls to angelic siren and back again, often in the same song. There is nothing she cannot do. Add to that the bass player Marko has a stunning voice, they have one of the best drummers in metal (now Kai Hahto), he is an absolute monster. Troy who can play any instrument (some songs have flutes, whistles, pipes... a bouzouki, guitars with e-bow etc etc etc). Dive in, Gabriel's list is a good guide - only thing i would say, dont do Poet and the Pendulum or The greatest show on earth for a bit, and do some research on the songs first. You will get 20x more out of them if you do.

Hey RLC react. Welcome to the wonderous world of Nightwish! This band has the potential to change your lives...they did mine. If you just want some traffic for your channel they'll do that alright but equally if you genuinely want to hear some of the most carefully crafted rock (classical) compositions of all time, with all the attendant emotions, while being blown away by one of the best singers ever...then you're in for a treat. Hope you do some more?

I`ve watched this and many of their other concerts quite often and still get the shivers. They preformed a concert at Wembley Arena in 2015 that I highly recommend.

There are ofcource lot's of other great bands but,Nightwish amazes people with almost ALL their songs.Not many bands are as epic in their songs and live performences like Nightwish,there is always something new to discover. Saw the Band live at the Wiltern theater in LA May 2022. The band is a tight powerful unit live and along with being one of the finest singers in the world , Ms Jansen , has an incredible stage presence. She turned this 72 year old man into a raging fan boy

GLS @ Wacken 2013 is the gold standard in epicness in symphonic metal and every sub-genre. The stars aligned perfectly, everything fit together as Nightwish's band leader Tuomas Holopainen designed. The band played their hearts out, Floor Jansen hit all her notes strong and clean, the crowd was amazing, and a legendary performance was made. 🤘🔥

Un coucou de l'armée NIGHTWISH de France, avec un peu de retard, très très bonne réaction et belle analyse à l'écoute du plus grand groupe du monde pour ma part. Vous venez de faire connaissance du métal symphonique et de notre reine Floor, mais vous n'avez qu'effleuré le dessus de l'iceberg et vous n'êtes qu'a l'entrée du terrier de lapin. Je vous souhaite de bons floorgasmes et continuez vos réactions nous serons toujours derrière vous pour vous soutenir pour notre groupe...... Encore plus d'écoutes s'il vous plait...... Merci. Continuez sur le festival du Wacken Open Air 2013, vous êtes sur de ne pas vous tromper, les quinze chansons du set sont des classiques pour tous les fans du groupe et sont à écouter absolument. Cette chanson est la 11 sur les 15 du set complet , ensuite toujours dans le même concert, faites le Ever Dream qui commence comme une douce ballade voix piano et sur un signe de Marko ( le bassiste ) continue d'accélérer pour finir comme un train à grande vitesse, ensuite je conseille une petite histoire comme Storytime un excellent rock entêtant puis essayez du plus lourd avec Ghost River pour entendre le surprenant mélange des voix de Floor avec Marko ou encore plus lourd avec Romanticide..... Et je pense que notre ami Gabriel Bardac devait arriver sous peu, ou être déjà passé ( Un grand MERCI à Gabriel d'avoir repris le flambeau de notre regrettée Anne ) cliquez sur son nom et allez sur communauté, vous pourrez suivre sa liste en toute confiance avec les meilleurs mixages à la bonne vitesse et avec le meilleur audio mais ce n'est pas une obligation, juste un sage conseil pour entendre une petite partie du meilleur du groupe. Hello Guys, great reaction! Those goosebumps you felt, are called "Floorgasms"! You have just discovered two huge 'rabbitholes' at the same time. Not only is Nightwish a the greatest live-perfoming band on earth, but Floor Jansen is absolutely incredible. So check out all the numbers that Gabriel has given you, but beside that don't forget to also check out Floor's solo performances (to start with many songs on "Beste Zangers 2019"), including duets with Henk Poort ("Phantom of the Opera" and "Dangerous Game"). You've recently done Band-Maid, Lovebites and now Nightwish. Those are some stellar bands with that list. Floor Jansen, the third singer of Nightwish is a great vocalist and married to the drummer of Sabaton, Hannes Van Dahl. This is my favorite Nightwish song. Many more great Nightwish songs to go and more great bands still to do from both Japan and Europe. Enjoy the journey ahead.
