The song is a reference to Henry David Thoreau's classic work "On Walden, or Life in the Woods." The book is about Thoreau's years of simple and ethical living by Walden Pond. As you listen to the lyrics you can hear exactly that! Troy is singing in Welsh at the beginning. Those are uilleann pipes-- they're different from Highland pipes in that there is a small bellows used to drive air through them instead of the person who's playing having to blow into it.

Dear George and Patrick, Greetings from the UK! Keep on doing reactions. It is really nice to see younger people discovering the type of music that gets no airplay on commercial radio. I am a 61yrs old man and discovered Nightwish during lockdown due to the Covid pandemic. Stuff like this has kept me sane- well relatively! Enjoy and best wishes, Rhodri.

These are the Uilleann pipes (the Irish elbow pipes). The "flute" is the Irish Low Whistle. You can play any instrument and sing in English and, as you have just heard, Welsh.

I love this song from Nightwish - to me, this particular song, is part celtic/folk rock and part symphonic metal! It's really beautiful and all the instruments blend together so well, along with Floor's wonderful vocals. Troy Donockley plays on this one, an English guy who is a great musician who joined Nightwish in 2013. Plays among other instruments, the Uilleann pipes (Irish pipes) and other pipes too. At the beginning he sings the opening verse in Welsh, means something like Sound of the mist, smell of the mossy forest, under trees and moon, I weave my wings to life's tapestry. (I found it on Google - not sure if it's accurate but it sounds beautiful!) Thanks so much for reacting to this, guys, I really enjoyed it and your reaction was fab, as always! I am so glad you enjoyed this song as much as I did, it's definitely one of my Nightwish favourites! George, I was so sorry to hear you had the flu - these viruses can really pull you down whether they are Covid or not, and thankfully this time it wasn't. Welcome back to Nightwish , Troy was playing the Irish Uileann Pipes ( Bellow under the elbow) is where the air comes from then later on he played a Whistle

These are the Uillean pipes, Irish version of Scottish bag pipes, bellows operated by strap around elbow area instead of blowing into it. Advantage is you can sing at the same time as playing the pipes. Second advantage, your instrument does not fill up with moisture from respiration (spit.)

Very nice, gents. Evelyn here. Love the pipes and the recorder….such a lovely bucolic feel to the sound. The mountains and forests…Nightwish is mainly Finnish…..so that’s the language you heard. I’ve seen pictures of Georgia…..it looks breathtaking! I’m so glad you are feeling better, George! And glad it wasn’t Covid!

The language at the start is Welsh - NOT Finnish. There is NO recorder - it is Low Whistle
